I have had issues with the gearbox on my 360 ever since getting it several years ago. I have had it looked at by 3 different ferrari dealerships costing a fortune and still it is not right. After a excited drive there is someting that expands and shifting becomes near impossible till it cools down after a few mintues and all is fine again.

I am now looking for a gearbox to swop this one out with, there is one on Ebay but wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to find one??

Ebay is a good place to look. There are several dismantlers on there that part out cars.

GT car parts in Phoenix could also be a source. Co-part sells insurance totals.

You should be able to come up with one between all those.

Be careful. There are many floating around out there that are bad. I had to inspect 6 before I found one without a damaged ring and pinion. The 6th one only needed bearings and syncros.

Known good gear boxes get sold quickly. Junk yards are stacked up with transmissions from cars that had an intercooler failure.

Seems like that should be a last resort, I'm assuming you checked the linkage, cables, bushings, and tried different tranny fluids?

I have had the box rebuilt twice by 2 different garages, new upgraded cables, catridge checked, tranny oil change you name it it has been done to the tune of 10 000GBP

Numerous garages have looked at it with the latest being some one i consider a true expert, no one can figure this issue out and no one has seen it before

the specialist i bought the car from screwed me over really... but sadly i have never been able to enjoy the 3 peddles always wondering if it will change gear the next time i try after a fruitful drive

Did you have the throw out bearing rebuilt or replaced?

There are 2 seals that are replaceable if installed incorrectly they will stick and not release properly causing the input shaft to continue spinning and bad shifting-the car acts as if clutch is not fully released. They would also heat up as you use it making the problem worse. Ask me how I know...

My mechanic found it during a motor change when we decided to do the clutch at the same time. The bearing looked good - no leaks and spun ok by hand when cool, but would bind after it got heated. He replaced the seals and my transmission/clutch work perfectly after.

Adding to this, my car's previous owner did the same and spent an amount close to a telephone number for his bill, including new clutch, etc.

When I took over the car, I had exactly the same thing happen, where randomly when the car is warmed up, I could not engage either 5th or 6th gear.

Bottom line, it was a snapped shift bushing, which I've replaced with an aluminium one from Hill Engineering years ago.
