Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and I am a first time Ferrari owner. I have been reading a lot and I have learned much from these forums. I just wanted to introduce myself and ask a couple of questions.

My car 88 360 black/tan, F1, just recently had prosport body kit *great fit) put on with some exterior carbon fiber accessories, also had to replace the alternator, I got the car out of the shop and have driven about 300 miles but I am still not able to pass smog. I have 02 heat, 02, and evap sensors not ready. I have done the drive cycle many times that I have found on the site. I think my next step is Ferrari. I live in las Vegas. I have an appt monday at 8am

I have never been to the factory dealership but I think I am going to have to go because from what I am understanding I might need to have my ECU reflashed. Dont know if this was ever done.

My question is, What type of price should I be expecting from ferrari for an issue like that?

Does anyone know of any reputable independents in nevada? (there are only old posts on this)

    thanks everyone

Hi there, the entire staff from the Penske Wynn Ferrari dealership moved to Towbin at 5500 W Sahara. The service department it's amazing in my opinion. The Manager Rich is very easy to talk to and very open. Don't be afraid. Just go there and explain what is your issue. You will be amazed how they work with you ....

Thank you for the reply, I guess I've always just been nervous about prices at ferrari but I did make an appt monday at 8am

That should have said 99 360 but that is probably obvious. Thanks again

Not an uncommon issue on the 99's. Definitely sounds like the ecu's need to be reflashed. Not sure how the problem developed. Did you do something with the ecus?

I just had to pay the local dealer to remove the ecus, send them to Ferrari of North America and then reinstall. Just an hour or so of labor. FNA did the reflash for free. No big deal.

This was a consignment sale and the broker said the car had no open campaigns but Im just not sure if that is true, but hopefully that will be the fix, I have an appt with Ferrari monday morning at 8, how long did it take to have them taken out sent to FNA and back on the road? I did not do anything with the ECU....just should have been more vigilant when I bought it but I was soooo excited!

    Earth, mostly ...
Wasn't there a thread years ago, where someone had the test center shut the engine off during the emission test. Then restart it to set the moniters? I can't seem to find it... It did pertain to the 99 model year.. Keep us up to date as to what the dealer does..

Just a week or two. I believe FNA is in New Jersey.

Your dealer may, or may not, be familiar with the issue. Could be more time consuming and expensive if they try to go down other roads first. You may want to contact FNA directly to help set it up. PM me your email and I'll forward my email exchange with FNA.

My O2S and HTR now set with no problem. EVAP comes and goes. I believe the 99s had the euro evap system and that it just doesn't work consistently with the EVAP monitor. This is not a problem as you still pass with one monitor not set and for model years 2000 or earlier, you pass with two monitors not set.

Here are some posts on the subject.

My euro sets the evap easily, interested if the reflash takes care of the O2 monitor

Are there any check engine codes? Not all smog center knows how to smog a Ferrari as it use fly by wire to the throttle body and what happens it would not stay on the same idle for a period of time.

If you idle isn't dead solid there is something wrong with your car. ANY and I really mean ANY gas station can smog a Ferrari. The only difficult part is keeping it in the proper speed range for the rolling rode part of the test. Most will even let me drive the car and do that part.

The 99's had another issue with getting all of the monitors set. The cure is to get the ECU's reflashed to fix the issue. He is doing the right thing.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you guys know I got my ECU's back from FNA today. Tech installed them, did one drive cycle and passed no problem. Computer saw all o2 and evap, smogged with no issue. Also apparently FNA has a newer sofware and I have noticed some better shifting.

Thank you everyone for the help and supports.

Special Shout out to BYU (handle) for PMing me the conversation with FNA and the support
