Hello Graeme / Jack / Marc... I think Marc is right, in that sometimes we K owners get busy with other things! Right now work, and my Ghibli SS project are taking up much of my free time, especially work unfortunately! How is you K coming along Jack? I am looking forward to seeing the new K registry website. Let us all know when it is ready Marc! Mike
Hi Mike! Yes more going on than I can shake a stick at but somehow I manage! You can be sure I will make it known loud and clear when ready maybe in time for Christmas Good luck with your Khamsin predecessor project! Marc
Graeme, have you found doorhandles yet? I need a pair aswell. If there is a remake project count me in. Best Otto.
Otto No I havnt sadly however I believe that MIE are considering the idea. If enough requests are put to MIE I m sure they would have the tooling made. These handles as I have said are also fitted to early Alfa Montreals and with their rise in valve there may be enough to make it worth while.
They showed these on their last newsletter MIE quoted a price so hopefully they have tooled them already Julian
A time warp K? https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/maserati/khamsin/1975/344990?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Classic%20Driver%20Daily%202202015&utm_content=Classic%20Driver%20Daily%202202015%20CID_e7ee87c84b0e20b16e521a8f01e2bf88&utm_source=newsletter
That is AM120190 sold by Artcurial in the February Retromobile auction this year after decades in storage. A friend of mine in Germany feels it has simply been cleaned up since the auction for resale. It was sold new by Thepenier to a doctor. Ironically the car was stored all these years in Neuilly sur Seine the Paris suburb where I lived as a teen 1977-86 and I never ever saw a K in Neuilly during those years so to find out it had been there all along...! Best regards, Marc
In the German text on the website they also mention this: "Der Unterbau wurde vollständig eisgestrahlt, optisch aufgearbeitet und konserviert. Nach längerer Standzeit muss das Fahrzeug noch in Betrieb genommen werden. " I will try to translate: "The underside has been ice-blasted, optically improved and protected. After long storage the car still has to be made road ready." I think the car is rather high on its wheels, maybe they also changed/renewed the suspension.
This could be the car for sale at Auto Dürst in Malans, Chassis 396, as it was photographed on the lake 'Walensee' not far from them. In spring they offered the car for CHF 195 000, now for 249 000 EUR.
So this is one of the Khamsins in the Zurich region? Must be a great place to drive the car, with the mountains and the lakes. And to take pictures of course. Maybe even a ski trip would be possible? In one of the "Il Tridente" magazines of around 1990 there is this picture of a Khamsin with skis on the roof and snow chains! It looks a lot like the car advertised here by the way, but could be another one, since it is in Austria and the mirrors are different.

No, another picture, I just checked, it is in "Il Tridente" (Rivista del Club Maserati) of April 1990, at page 16.
The northern Swiss city is one of the wealthiests in Europe and has always been a Maserati stronghold so it is no surprise that -with Holland and Austria- it is one of the most K dense areas in Europe. When a local lawyer and I organized a K meet in August 2010 we counted 14 possible cars and 8 came since the rest were away on holiday. Here are 2 of the 3 really exceptional ones at hand that day: AM120232, a pino verde tan stunning example which I got to borrow all day thanks to its generous owner (who at the time had two K's), a favorite of mine for years, AM120352, a burgundy beauty with two tone interior which is also the only Khamsin delivered new with factory luggage that I know of, perhaps the ultimate K, and, not shown, AM120246 a light blue completely amazingly original car. Best regards, MS
The photo, hopefully this time it works: No, attachment issue even though I renewed and took the Rossa subscription, strange... MS
