Useful post. Another question of interest might be whether the MK2s were fitted under warranty or at owner's cost. Mine were fitted by previous owner when car was 4 years old, 50% parts cost covered by Ferrari, at main dealer. I understand the situation in the US re warranties on exhausts may be different.

mine were replaced under warranty at approx 3000 miles

MK2s have 14K on them.

 

1. how does one know? my 06 had them changed after 15k miles and 8 yrs. my 07 has 2500 miles and original oems.

2006 F1 spider. Car came to me with a Tubi exhaust and MK2s at 18,000 miles after the MK1s had been replaced twice. I promptly changed exhaust brackets to Capristo and put another 6,000 miles on the car with no issues. Proactively changed to AP headers last winter. Currently at 26,000 miles.

 

2006 F1 Coupe, 23k Miles

Second set of MK2, first set installed in 2008. Failed in 2015 (before delivery to me). Dealer replaced with new MK2

3. Factory Challenge headers (no precat) just fitted by me.

As everyone knows? it's not a header issue. It's how the rest of the system is rigidly mounted which causes the header to fail. Which I am now modifying.

Original Mk1's failed at 11k/4 years
Replacement Mk2's covered 18k before failing. Capristo brackets were fitted

Second car - 2008
I collect it later today so will report back. The stock headers are way too restrictive so will be changed regardless.

 

How can you tell if they are MK1 or MK2?

Info on new car: it came from the factory with Mk2's and they failed at 19k/6 years. It's on replacement Mk2's which I will change in due course.

Something else to take into consideration in this post is model year. The exhaust mounting system changed through the years with the early cars having a near solid mount, and later cars having a degree of movement in horizontal and vertical planes.
