I'm not even sure where to put this thread, but hoping someone can help. I'm on the hunt for a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo A, car that only 500 were made and only for the Japanese market. I live in the USA and since it's been over 25 years since the car was produced, it can now be imported legally. Problem is, in the past year and a half I have found exactly one for sale and missed out on it. Does anyone know a way to reliably search Japanese dealers, auctions, etc? I am trying to work with a Japanese company, R-International, but they seem to be only looking at the auctions and my suspicions are that if any are for sale it will be through a dealer or private party. Thanks in advance!
Andrew, not sure I would be of any help but if you can give me infos, I can ask my trusted shop guy that I have dealt with over twenty years. He may not deliver but he has his network connections, which is vital here. Simply going thru those auctions houses may not be the way to go for something exotic as your search. PM me if you like. Good luck with your search. w/ smiles Jimmy
If you go to: ??? ???? ?????? - carview! and put in スープラ ターボa for the keyword search (キーワード:, they should turn up if there. There was one (a rare thing) a few days ago...gone already. Drivers in Japan also quick to get the info out to one another... Glad you have a contact (Jimmy) in Japan to perhaps help... Good luck!
The turbo A will be hard to find in good condition. King Motorsports in japan deals alot with mkiii supras.
These guys are legit and should be willing to work something out... Japanese Classics - 100% Legal Imported Japanese Cars
If you're still looking there's one here: ???? GT ??? ???A500?????????@???.com - ??????????? - ????! For sale by a dealer in Osaka, let me know if I can help.
Anyone in Japan know of any Porsche? Looking for 80s and early 90s Turbo Porsche or anything special. Slantnose too.
Ha, funny to see this thread pop up. Two years on still looking. A haggard Turbo A comes up every so often on Goo Net Exchange. Japanese Classics LLC and International Vehicle Importers won't source. I've tried each a couple times and it's the same answer.
I'm in the a similar boat as yourself Gran Drewismo, only I'm looking for sources for parts only. I've recently purchased a 1964 Honda S500 roadster and I'm trying to locate parts. Japanese auction sites would prefer to not sell to the U.S. public typically, so I'm hoping to find a reliable contact in Japan willing to purchase and mail small parts to me. ~ Steven
You've probably already tried but Japanese Classics LLC is providing a parts service. You could also try JDM Legends. As of the past year or two they seem to be more towards the restoration of cars rather than the import/sales.
I recently bought a 7000 miles R32 GT-R with through a company in Tokyo as well as my 993 GT. If you're interested I can PM the details. They took a couple of months to source but I was able to find one in the end that matched all I was looking for. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Beat me to it. These guys do it right and have come up with some really interesting and unique entries.
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but found this 'barn' find from Japan reported today on CNN's news site, Daytona: http://www.cnn.com/style/article/ferrari-daytona-barn-find/index.html 40 years it states hidden. Anyone have info? Apparently a full Aluminum body of which Ferrari had only ever commissioned one street Daytona with a full aluminum body. Sorry can't post pics etc, but just re-learning how this new interface works. r
