I bought an LG smart TV hoping it would make watching online content easier than before when i used my chromecast on my non smart tv.

Not only is the menu very slow (each action takes 3/5 sec), there are very few apps on the LG market. For example there is no HBO GO app so i cant watch HBO on my smart TV unless i plug my chromecast again.
Comecast has no app for smart tv out yet. I cant stream the channels i have with my comecast plan to the smart tv. Neither from my phone or from my laptop. Again, i need to plug in my chromecast..

Another issue i have (which i cant figure out why) is when i launch the youtube app and try to watch a live stream, the quality is awful and it buffers every few seconds. When i watch a non live content, even in 4k, the quality is great and there is no buffering. So it is not my internet, but i dont know if it's the LG OS or the youtube app. I tried several live stream (Fox, CNN and others) and it is the same ****.

All in all, i was much happier with my non smart tv and my $35 chromcast stick (which had to be rebooted every other week...).

Anyone have had an experience as bad as this?

Is it on wifi or does it have a direct connection? I didn't like mine (also LG) on the Wifi so just connected it directly.

Menu works fine with me but I've since connected it to my computer so never have to deal with the menu, it'll always be slower than PC.

I have a Samsung and the mirroring app is useless.

But it's good for Netflix streaming.

I have an Apple TV but the mirroring is always buffering or disconnecting when I stream content.

I have a Panasonic and only have used the YouTube app but never had a problem that I can remember.

It seems I've always read more issues with LG tvs than any other.

Maybe the LG is flirting with the sexy Nest or Skybell down the street?

You should not connect your smart TV to the internet. Most (if not all) snoop on what you watch and send the data back to the parent company. In addition, they also have bad security protection. You should buy something like Apple TV and use your Smart TV like a Dumb TV.

Sony 'smart' TV here, and have found the app support on many of the devices have been very weak with infrequent updates and intermittent crashing.

The sony Android TV box my wife bought was never updated by sony/android. The sony blue-ray player has a better Netflix client for what was maybe $59.

I got my parents a Roku 3, and they're happy with it.

I wouldn't invest in a 'smart' tv again.

I have a few Samsung smart TV's but must admit I never use any of the features as they are limited and slow, waste of money if you ask me.
Should just have set up a pc and used the tv as a monitor when not watching cable.

Samsung smart tvs are crap. We got find of two...

Love our LG and Sharp. Seamlessly log onto YouTube and off. Quick, perfect hi resolution pictures and movies with no buffering.

I think you have an Internet issue.

We had some kind of crappy att Internet, and it was horrible. Pretty much what you describe. Then got cable with 50mps and it's awesome...

    Good luck...

My Samsung Samrt TV seems to hate YouTube. I go to play a YouTube vid, it buffers and starts fine, then it just stops loading the rest of the vid and freezes. Netflix is no problem, just YT. Has anyone experienced this?

My 40 day old 65" 4k Samsung is going back to Costco today.
screen was all green this morning and when I touched(!) it the screen went blank.
It fired up again and screen was normal, then green again, then normal.
I lived with one TV that had these little fits that became more and more frequent and now the warranty is up so I'm stuck with it(Vizio). That's not going to happen again.
Supposedly the Samsung was well regarded.
What is the consensus here about a reliable set?

YouTube app on my VIZIO M70-C3 works great via an HDMI connection from the Cisco Explorer cable TV box. Netflix app works well too. AppleTV is OK but seems to drop the connection if you don't keep the Apple device actively displaying on the TV... much better to use the YouTube app for streaming YouTube videos. Very good quality remote control.

1.Get a Roku...Kinda like GPS navigation, IMO. The factory installed stuff will always lag behind the aftermarket.

If you can, run a Cat 5/6 cable from router to TV.

I have a Vizio at the beach hardwired to FIOS. I'm content w speed.

I wish the industry would just understand that we already get Netflix and other apps through our Apple TV, Roku, ChromeCast, or BluRay player...... why do I need all the same apps again on the screen itself??? Just be a screen.

I just replugged my chromecast. It's better but i just cant believe how behind the LG environment is. Even the remote control is poorly thought.

Smart TVs in general are crap.

Much better idea to use a dedicated device, like a Roku.

Our 55" Smart 4K Curved Samsung TV SUUUUUCKS with streaming stuff...

The funny thing? It worked better when we bought it. All their worthless "updates" have just made it WORSE over the past 2 years

Im "glad" to read im not crazy to think that.

My wife was telling me i am exaggerating but the experience was just simpler and faster with my old TV + Chromecast.

After years of tweaking my system, here is my best advice:

    1) Don't use wireless to connect your streaming device, spend the $$ and have a hard wire going to it.

    2) Apple TV is the best device all around choice for streaming content.

    3) For mirroring off of devices onto the tv (through the apple tv), put an access point in the same room as the device (connected via hard wire to same network).

    Which one?

Our Roku 3 has no noticeable delay.

Our Roku Stick, on the other hand, definitely has a delay.

I bought a dumb Tv and just plugged a Roku in. Found the menu much simpler and saved a bunch. The control on the Samsung and LG TV not very user friendly IMO. South Korea isn't exactly the new Japan. Use a PS3 on another TV to navigate things. For some reason the PS3 service is still free but monthly charges for the PS4. I actually like the menu with the PS3. Just works. The control with the LG and Samsung "smart" apps and remote were nearly impossible to use.
