Classic Maseratis....in the movies!!

Having just seen this movie courtesy of netflix, the only redeeming parts are the Maserati Ghibli driven vigorously by Jennifer O'Neill (and sometimes chased by her in a Daytona). And the early 911 that nearly rear ends a tree. A few Citroen SMs are visible on the dealer lot too.

 

Ok that scene was good too, but she is much better looking than Donald Sutherland.

I caught "some" of this movie the other day and at the end of it he drives off in a beautiful red/burgundy colored Sebring. However, the Plot is totally unbelievable as he turns down having a three way with a set of oversexed twins.

Well at least he gets Samantha Eggar and the Maserati!

Anyone have footage of this movie, or a screenshot?

I believe this car is in Texas. It is also rumored that it was used in a Rock Hudson episode.

 

Watching "Lady Ice" as a kid kick-started my passion for Maseratis and particulary Ghiblis. I always wandered what happened to that car, hoping that I might start looking around for it once I win the lottery. Now I'm dissapointed to find that it somehow morphed into two examples . But as I didn't win the lottery either it's not yet much of a problem...

Was this blue-pervinca Ghibli spyder a SS?

I use to own a SS coupe that had a SS spyder engine. I located the SS spyder body (or what was left of it) in north Miami. The owner had a bunch of Italian cars all in similar shape. He talked about someday restoring the car but I knew he would never get around to doing it.

Didn't check to see if it is included but their is a Peter Sellers movie from the sixties starrting Brit Ecklund (his wife at the time I believe); and a Mistral Spyder - Peter is 'Bobo the Clown' - somewhat lame movie but the medium metallic blue Mistral Spyder with Brit Ecklund 'draped' over the hood - is worth a look.
Love that Allemano 3500 - what a gorgeous design - very thin 'C' pillar gives it an almost hardtop convertible feel.

108.008 is now in Washington and is possible for sale, had a 4-litre engine

Saw this nice Mistral spyder with hardtop in a good little sixties movie on Utube, "Special mission lady Chaplin" but it only appears once in the very last seconds of the film. Nice color though.

I wonder if that is the "root beer" Mistral Spyder that Ivan restored, #1691. Not many spyders. I wonder how many were brown.

I never drank "root beer" no idea of its color but that car is a shade of gold, you can see the scene in the last seconds of the movie it is just shown arriving that is it.
For sure there weren't many in that color.

Having looked at Ivan's link just now no definitely not the same color.
