Hello all, I've been reading, enjoying and learning from your posts long before I officially joined the Ferrarichat community. Thanks for all the info and enthusiasm- I hope I can contribute a small fraction of what you've already given me. Anyway today is a good day for my first post because today I took possession of an immaculate 1990 red/black Mondale t. I've always admired the Mondials from a far- always thinking "these cars are incredible... what's with the lukewarm or mixed appreciation?..... am I missing something?" Well, today I own one. I had a PPI done by a renowned Ferrari mechanic- the car had its major service completed by a reputable shop 300 miles and one year ago- and it passesd with flying colors. For peace of mind I changed the fluids, filters, plugs, battery and had new tires put on anyway... all prior to delivery. It arrived today- this afternoon. It came off the truck, I looked at it, dropped the top and got behind the wheel of a Mondial for the first time in my life. (For background, I own and cherish an 89 328, and I've driven other Ferraris- 308 qvs, 360s, a 430 Scud, and a 488- I love them all.) As for the Mondial t.... WOW! It's a car like none other.... not saying better than any car, but unlike anything I've ever driven. It is fast, it goes wherever you point it, the balance is marvelous, the sound, the smell, the whole damn thing! Pure joy. A bad word about this car is an uninformed word, because the car is a blast... a wild, retro, one-of-kind blast... that fits me and my 3 little girls who enjoyed the ride maybe even as much as I did. The car arrived today with 15,550 miles on the odometer. Now it has 15,620 and I'm already looking forward to Saturday. Mondale lovers, your population grew by 6 today (me, my wife and the kids). Congratulations. Love it. FYI, you can probably get the soft top to sit lower in its well. Amer and others have started threads about raising and lowering the top. The driver's side seems to be high, stretching the tonneau cover. Enjoy in good health!
Great to have you as part of our group! Car looks great and you'll enjoy it more and more. She's a beaut! Congratulations. Jim
Nice car, congratulations! I don't see too many red on black cars which makes it a bit more unique than the usual red on tan. Did this car come from Marshal? Looks like they have some great cars in their inventory.
Very nice Mondial! Enjoy and don't be surprised if you find yourself driving it more than your 328! Alden
The longer I've been among the Ferrari the more I realize that the same (at times zealous) passion that draw people the marque also has the power to create negative sentiments. It makes sense with such a elevated marque. For example, you either love the Patriots or you hate em' Sadly, much of the same senseless hate we see with the Mondial is now being thrown at the California. Even Marchionne had this Montezemolo moment recently.
99% of the "haters" have never seen a Mondial or even driven a Ferrari. The universal, in the flesh reaction to my 3.2 is, "Is that a Ferrari? My God, that is a beautiful car!" Alden
Anyone who says the Mondial is "bad" clearly has not hit the twisties in the morning then had to go to Home Depot to pick up a bunch of 4x8s. I had 14,880 miles on mine when I got her nearly 12 years ago. Memories....
Sweet! Good looking and good colour combo, I really like it. Ooh, just by coincidence my Qv cab is also red and black..... /Peter
WOW a excellent low miles sorted car. I love my 3.2. I am sure you will love the T. I know you paid up to get such a nice one. Most would agree it was well worth it. Have fun Love the photo,s Would like to see a pic on the interior I would guess the black looks amazing. Kind Regards
Looks great, enjoy the drives, I'm sure the kids would love it, and tell all the friends about it, I know mine do.
