Lessons learnt from the rally: - have a full set of tools and spares. At the concorso I was lending tools out left right and centre! - know how to do basic mechanical stuff. I was happy I knew how to change the plugs. On old cars even changing a spare is not straightforward. You need to know how to remove and replace the knockoffs, the jacking points are important etc. I'd like to learn to adjust the carbs (I know how to adjust the idle but that's about it) - the Bose headphones were great for reducing fatigue - the auction cup phone holders were great, put the phone in reach and easy to follow WAZE which worked perfectly. For the rally I had 2, one for my phone and one for the smartphone the rally organizers gave us. - the battery pack caeruleus11 recommended was amazing. Ten iPhone charges in one sleek package. - it was worth investing some time being comfortable to reduce fatigue, good sunglasses, earbuds, lumbar support etc. I really didn't get tired at all. - drive somewhat defensively, assume other road users are idiots, this was occasionally the case. - beep your horn at bystanders they will always wave!
0895gt has just arrived back in England! Another shout out for Harvey, Derek and the other great guys at DK for arranging everything so perfectly and looking after the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow! Just WOW! This thread was the next best thing to being there. I'm sure it was sometimes laborous to take the pics and report back but it was a very generous gift to all that followed. I'm sad it's coming to an end. Thank you so much for sharing this extraordinary adventure with us. It's clear that you are the perfect custodian for such a rare and truly special automobile. I hope I have an opportunity to meet you and see it in person some day. And I'm glad the Bose Noise Canceling In-Ears worked out for you. - Ron Frohock
Three cheers for DK Engineering and their efforts on your behalf with the TdF! The confidence that everything will be handled properly is priceless... You could almost say they made your Ferrari adventure possible.
0895GT featured in this weeks velocetoday. "If you happen to have the official 2017 Ferrari calendar hanging on your wall then you will already be familiar with this 1958 Ferrari 250 Tdf, chassis 0895GT. It was the first single louvre-covered headlight car built in 1958." http://www.velocetoday.com/salon-prive-2017/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you so much for sharing such an outstanding adventure, in such a detailed way for all of us. Many Thanks, RF.

That is a lovely tdf but not 0895gt! My car has no mirrors and chrome strip below doors is different. Not sure of serial number.
Mark did you get to keep the two kinds of decals on the nose and the door of your Ferrari that were used for the events you entered ?
Yes they are still on the car actually, I didn't bother to even take them off for the concorso as they did the judging right when I arrived on Saturday.
