Some cool footage from a Nullarbor road landing we did last week with the RAAF and a new aircraft type for them. https://www.facebook.com/royalflyingdoctorservice/
I know nothing about helicopters but I have to assume that is a chopper cockpit?! Didn’t know they could go so high!
Yep. Just going through 26,900 - Mt. Everest is 29,029 at that RoC about 4/5 minutes to go! gasp and I was no where near it!
Cool. Not a bad rate of climb really for FL270, especially for a chopper. With the winds at that altitude you’d hope they were going the right way or you could find yourself going backwards at 50kt +
Looks in better nick than some of the old **** heaps I used to fly (and, scarily, I still hear flying around now) Is that moretti climbing up onto it to give it a wash?
Repect!!!!!!!!!,especially for the crew. Whilst they had ,an apparently, reasonable armament the poor old dears were better known for soaking up attack aircraft. Aussie has a long history with the Marque. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolidated_PBY_Catalina#frb-inline
They say that the RAAF had 47 of the 63 high tailed Cat's built. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-15/fall-of-singapore-leads-to-tiny-town-hosting-air-base/8268520
