Hi friends. I was doing timing service and noticed that blue grease came out from the bearings. They are both new and car is still in workshop. Is it normal or just a bad bearings ? Thank you in advance. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk
Why not ask your mechanic who is DOING the service instead of strangers on the web? If they're new bearings then why are you concerned?
Im mechanic, first time doing timing in my 360. Im asking here because is a Ferrari forum with helpfull people. Both are new, but even new they can be in bad condition. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk
So how will you ever know if you have a bad bearing? Even if it doesn't have grease on the outside it can be bad. You could be replacing a good bearing with a bad one that "looks perfect". I presume it functions perfect right? (This is absurd.. install and monitor and check in a thousand miles IMHO.. but please let's let some others chime in here)
OK ok. The bearings came perfect and the grease came out while warming the engine and testing. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk
If it were me I'd check they move fine with no binding or sticking and then install. I'd then check them if I hear any noises or odd sounds in a few hundred miles in the event you over tightened them and then if there are any noises in the next few years. Congrats on getting the job done!
Looking at the gap between tensioner and the lever I would just say that the problem is in over-tension. Overstressed parts obviously overheat..
Good bearings don’t leak. I would return them as defective and ask for a new set. Hopefully it won’t be a problem. Good luck!
Tension was measured in HZ, between 190 and 220. Other thing is that tensioner compresses little by little after starting engine and belt loses tension, but never over tensioned.
