I looked and could not find a detailed procedure for a Mondial T engine out removal, so here it is. Step 1: Turn off battery at the front trunk right hand side, twist the knob clock wise Step 2: Remove Engine Lid, 10mm socket, 2 person job to make it easier. Remove the lid shock as well. Step 3: Remove metal tray under the, screw driver and 10mm socket. No pictures here but these are pretty simple steps.
Step 4: Drain oil at the front of engine and at the bottom of oil tank, 19mm socket and 10mm allen socket Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 5: Drain coolant by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator pipe, at the front of the car. It looks like this below. Also drain the coolant at the engine block, right above the shift cable connections. That will make a pretty big mess. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 6: While you are under there, disconnect the two shift cables by removing 3 M6 nuts and bolts. Drape the cables to the left side of the car and tie them off to a bolt somewhere. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 7: Disconnect to the brake line, plug both ends. Left side of engine, right under the frame. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 8: Disconnect the two AC hoses right at the AC compressor (you should have evacuated R12/R134 before this) It takes 22mm, 19mm wrenches. Remember to replace those Viton rings Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 9: Remove the wheels, and wheel wells. Step 10: Disconnect the two big hoses feeding the oil tank. 32m, 36mm, and a pretty large adjustable wrench. Access is easier from the wheel well and under the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 11: From above the engine, disconnect the two large elbow hoses from the MAF to the intake, two additional ventilation hoses to the air filter box, and remove the air filter housing, 10mm sockets. Unplug the two MAF connectors. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 12: remove the Rear grill, so that the rear bumper looks like this. Screw driver is used Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 13: Remove the muffler by removing M8 fasteners hanging the muffler to the frame and the long M8 nuts and bolts connecting to the Cat converters. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 14: toward the very front of the engine in the engine compartment, disconnect the clutch line and plug up the fitting with a brass fitting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 15: Disconnect the two lines at the top of the fuel filters front of the engine compartment, left and right, use 19mm and 22mm wrenches Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 16, left side of engine, disconnect the smaller power steering hose to the reservoir, then remove the reservoir from the frame, and drape it over the engine. Use a vacuum pump to suck out the fluid before hand, but be prepared to catch a large spill. 13mm socket. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 17: Left side of engine, at the very front of the subframe, remove the vacuum reservoir that looks like a large can of tomatoes. Then you will see the hydraulic line for the power steering. Disconnect that. It needs a 22mm wrench and a 17mm wrench. Use a towel to catch the spill. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 18: Rear trunk of the car, remove access panel. Disconnect all connectors for the two cable harnesses and feed the connectors to the engine bay. You will need to figure out the sequence of what connector to go first. They cannot all fit at the same time into that hole. Have fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 19: back in the engine bay, disconnect the two shock control modules and remove them from the top of shock towers. At the bottom right hand of that picture is a heater hose, disconnect that too.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 20: Inside the passenger compartment, flip down the seats and remove the access port cover. 6 screws. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 22: disconnect the left and right fuel return hoses from the fuel regulators. This is really cramped, have fun. 17mm and 19mm wrenches. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Step 23: Disconnect the throttle cable from the back of the car, and remove the throttle cable bracket over the thermostat housing by going through the access port at the front of the engine, then feed the cable into the passenger compartment. Have fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is a vacuum line at the T connection at the front of the engine that needs to be removed. And two additional crank case ventilation hoses to the oil tank that need to be removed. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At this point the engine is ready to drop from the car. These steps depend on what kind of lift you have, or don't have. There are 16 bolts at the front of the subframe, 3 nuts over each shock tower, and 4 large bolts toward the rear of the subframe to remove and the engine drops away. I did it on a 4 post lift. Image Unavailable, Please Login I had a really hard time with the left shock tower due to flexing subframe but eventually I got it out after removing the shock. And here is the sucker on the floor.
Although I don't wrench myself, and hopefully speaking for the entire Mondial "family", thank you so much for this!! Surely an invaluable guide. Forza Mondial!! Temple
