What is the best system that offers two cat deletes leaving one pair and no muffler?
My ex-race 355 had Fabspeed-headers, no cats & straight through exhaust. Are your really sure you want to go that way? It´s really noisy and I would´t say it sounds better than stock/slightly modified. I´m now running Fabspeed-Headers, 100cell cats and Fabspeed-X-Pipe-Silencer. About right for me. No video on youtube yet I´m afraid.
So... 1. What car are you talking about? 348 or 355 2. You can use or not use cat delete pipes on any exhaust. 3. Leaving one pair of what? 4. Are you just looking for the LOUDEST exhaust or one that sounds best?
I think its for a 355 and he wants to deleat the bypass cats so many do that. But as you said Brian not clear exactly
tubi test pipes, tubi exhaust, tubi headers and bradan Y pipe is my recipe https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/bradan-f355-2-7-y-pipe.313866/
if you just want the loudest setup possible.. with no concern in regards to pitch/tone.. just go with test pipes, tube only challenge style exhaust and a no cat ypipe.. stock or aftermarket headers I don't think will contribute much difference in sound with this style setup.. as most of the sounds is already released with above. with those pieces replaced, stock headers may retain some customary pitch, but most likely will just be drowned out by the rest..
Fabspeed headers, Fabspeed cat deletes, Fabspeed muffler. Pack 3M earplugs in the glovebox. I don't work for Fabspeed or get any money for this advice.....just do it.
check these two clips of my car.. on the 2nd vid you can still hear the car well over km away.. the setup at the time. Fabspeed hearders, stock cats, Fabspeed Tube only/challenge exhaust and stock y-pipe. it was loud as hell.. sure it was fun, but it lacked pitch/tone achieved with aftermarket muffler/exhaust.. I was always nervous to be pulled over..! prefer my Nouvalari back on with test pipes.. !
Sounds great! On my Lamborghinis I always go muffler and rear cat deletes. This puts the primary convertors right at the end of the header and crossover pipes (no muffler) out the rear. Great sound so I was wondering if the same type setup sounds great on the 355.
in my opinion.. the customary 355 pitch/scream is best achieved with an actual exhaust, capristo, tubi, nouvalari etc.. and simply delete the primary cats with test pipes.. if you have a 1996+ 5.2 car, you'll need mini-cat spacers for the downstream 02 sensors.. to avoid CEL's.. which I use and have worked perfect..
Hi Drock. Can you please explain this more in detail? What is a mini cat spacer? Can it also be used for a 550 ? I am playing with different exhaust set ups on my 550 and previously my 456M. It is a pretty expencive and useless hobby but damn it is fun (and sometimes can be very dissppointing!). I am having Hyperflow cats + Quicksilver X-pipe and Capristos on now. Havent had time to test it because it is winter and snow here but I think it will be a good set up. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
when running test pipes on OBII cars.. there are usually 2 sets of 02 sensors pre and post, sometime more, which I learnt on the 599. the mini-cat spacer, is placed at the post/downstream o2 bung to keep that sensor happy.. these have an actual cat core inside to scrub the exhaust gas to keep the sensor happy enough not to throw a CEL.. im not as familiar with the exhaust configuration on the 550.. with the Hyperflows you should be ok.. but if the car throws o2 related codes when you get it running... you'll have to use the mini-cat spacers.. on the 5.2 OBII F355's which are very finicky, these spacers have worked perfect.. with my test pipe setup..
oh and I know what you mean.. I went complete OCD with different exhaust setups.. ive ran 5 different configurations lol.. since ive owned my car.. the only thing I haven't tested is an aftermarket no cat Y-pipe. but I simply cant justify the price point for the ones readily available.. in my opinion it should be no more then a $500 piece.
I have stock headers, fabspeed test pipes with catted o2 extenders, original tubi gen 1 muffler. i've very happy with the sound overall...although i think the pitch was a little higher/better with the 200cel race cats in. that said, reducing the heat created in the engine bay by removing the cats is an acceptable trade off for me.
Correct about all Capristos having the "competition"sign on it, and the 1/2/3 is only for decibels at idle as far as I know, 3 being the loudest at idle. And boy, that is so true...
If anybody is now convinced to go for a capristo 355 muffler -> i got one left over in good condition... sound stage i need to figure out... but who cares about idle ! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
