A co-worker owned this Ferrari in 1968. As teenagers him and his brother restored it, completely stripping the paint. He tells me they got it without an engine so they installed a small block Chevrolet. No flames please, it wasn't me, they were teenagers and in 1968 it seemed like a good idea. It looks to me like a Europa (based on a recent Gooding auction). He recalls marveling at the hammer marks in the aluminum, no doubt an amazing site for youngsters at the time.

The attached photo is the only one he has. Does anybody know / have a guess as to its current status? Would be interesting to find out.

The original post showed the red car and said thats the car his friend owned in 1968. If that's how he remembers the car from 1968, then I would think it was rebodied in the following restoration:
According to the Barchetta history :
89 - undergoing restoration at Auto Sport of Bastiglia, I
    98 - restoration finished
    Then:
99/aug - restored, dark red/tan, offered by Touring Garage, Oberweningen, CH asking $230.000
    - repainted light blue met.

But in the Barchetta photos, the red car is on display in 2011 and the Blue version in 2014, so something is missing in the story here. If someone knows and and can clarify, it would be appreciated.

    1. - repainted light blue met.

there is a DOT after the 1
    so this means they don't know if it was 11 / 12 / 13 / 14

If you look at period photos of Ghia bodied 212 Inters you will see that the nose was incorrect in the red photos. Blue photos show that the car's nose has now been recreated to more accurately represent its original configuration

The co-worker owned the car in 1968, but surely the picture in the first post is from the late 80s or early 90s... based on the clothing and perhaps the barely visible car behind the red car.

Collection in Ohio, as I recall

Front was modified to go back to original. Missing the original engine unfortunately.

Thank you, but I all but suspected this and was merely attempting to demonstrate to another poster why one shouldn't jump to conclusions just because they find additional photos of a car elsewhere, especially if those photos don't appear to be taken when the said car was built/new.
Perhaps I shouldn't had attempted to offer my demonstration in form a (rhetorical) question ? Oh well, it all clear & good now.
Bottom line: Absolutely beautiful car, regardless of nose jobs !

How sure it is the car in the first photo is actually or exactly the same car this co-worker owned? I think that car was still sitting among weeds without a nose or an engine in mid-70's...
