Definitely not disagreeing with you on that. But it is something i'd like to know WHY. Why was it the most significant or Important.
I'll take this to the 250 GTO thread. I'd like to further educate myself on this.

Others may weigh in but I think the 250 GTO's competition-winning accomplishments in FIA's International Championship for GT Manufacturers in 1962, 1963 and 1964 have a lot to do with it's status.

The 288 GTO's FIA Group B Homologation and competition intent doesn't hurt it's status either.

By the way, I’m a great fan of the 250 GTO. My earlier comments were strictly related to its design. While I think it’s great, there are other Ferrari’s that I love much more, the 288 being one.

Felipe Massa? I know he owns an F40 and a LaFerrari, it would be quite cool if he also owned the 288...

When I walked around a 288 GTO with Leonardo Fioravanti he talked me through the design of the car and what his whole philosophy is elegance and nothing fussy to disturb the eye and everything had to have a function. When I mentioned the car is just stunning he politely said 'thank you".

I'm curious if he gave any commentary on modern Ferrari's.

Perhaps it would be worth noting he had some involvement in the 458...

Nice story, the 288 GTO is indeed one of the purer Ferrari designs, in a way, timeless, from an era when less was more

Wow Joe! What is the count up to now? Something like 11 GTO's sold/selling now?
That's very impressive when you stand back and realize that's about 4% of the entire production run.
    Congratulations.

We sold @ 8 just last year (one car twice), a year of unusual activity for these, however, I think we are @ 30 over the past decade.

I tried to go 20 pages back but could find any answer.

Really loved/love that model but found this quote intriguing. Can you explain without braking any secret how such car got sold twice in a year? I mean, was it just about making money? New owner realised ABS wasn't available:)? Bitcoin went backward:)?

    Just curiosity really.

    Of course.

What happened was, a gentleman purchased a GTO for love, then 9 months later another gentleman made us an offer we could not refuse, so the first gentleman sold the car for money.

So in summary, the first gentleman bought for love and sold for money.

That's how a car can get sold twice in one year.

There is a fair amount of (Prancing) Horse Trading that goes on in the Private Treaty sector within which I work, so whilst this scenario is the exception, it's not unheard of.

If I get the chance, I'm happy to sell the same car multiple times in one year, after all, for me this is a business.

It was definitely love in this particular instance, but the people who buy these cars are often businessmen, when money talks, they listen.

I see, thanks for sharing. On this price range, if you are millionaire, I can understand your love can be perverted :(... however, if billionaire, that wouldn't influence me a bit IMO.

I understand what you are saying, but there are other reasons we haven't touched besides love & money that cause people buy and then sell, irrespective of their level of wealth.

It really comes down to the individual, how they feel about the car, the circumstances at any given time, etc.

For sure, I perfectly understand that and didn't want to start an argument. Thing is, for me, this car would be the gem of my car collection that I'd like to own... but for some obscur financial reason, I can't afford it :)
