Another new 458 Spider owner says hello!

    Hello 458/488 forum. I've been a Ferrari owner for five years now and loved my 360 utterly. However, life has been exceedingly good to me and last week I drove home in a totally gorgeous 2014 458 Spider with only 3000 miles on her. What an incredible piece of engineering and what a joy to drive.

    First impressions:
    • Wow! What a sound!;
    • Very very smooth to drive (two clutches are way better than one) despite the colossal power;
    • Really comfortable seats (I had a hip replaced 3 weeks ago and after the 3 hour drive home I knew I could keep going all day);
    • Fabulous convertible roof and I really appreciate being able to lower the rear window while the roof is up.
    • It took me only about a minute to get used to having all the controls on the steering wheel – the tactile relationship between human and car through this is intense. I’ll admit it took me a couple of days to discover the other buttons and toggles hidden around the back.

    I’ve read the owners handbook cover to cover a few times now, and I’m deep into the historic posts on this site and I’ll try not to ask you guys any obvious questions. The forum has already helped with programming the garage door openers, connecting iPhone by Bluetooth to play music, and tons of other helpful stuff with the entertainment system.

    I added about 4,000 miles to my 360 every year and I’m planning on enjoying the 458 the same way – out on the road.
