Red Bull bookends as they snatch first and last on the grid.

Unless Red Bull screw up strategy, Daniel should have an easy victory.

All Daniel all the time. Nicely done. Be interesting to see Max move up the field. That will not be easy or safe.

Well done to Ferrari to make it close. Mercedes are not at all a major threat it appears!

Max at the back may account for a safety car or two. Ric has the superior car, but the lottery spares nobody. He just needs to hope for a clean race.

Battle for second is interesting. I’d bet anything Merc goes for the undercut as soon as there is a breath of traffic clearance. Ferrari needs to respond within a lap

IMO Max's only hope is to start on hyper, pit after lap 1 and go on whatever the hardest tyres are. Hope that near the end of the race he's got a gap to go in the pit (with/without safety car)

Maybe, but I'll hazard a guess that Max fearing Marko will totally blow his stack with him after getting him fuming today, he will or should take it a bit more cautiously, it will be interesting to watch either way ;)

Agreed about Merc and Ferrari's tactics.

It's funny that the Red Bull management was in such a hurry to tie up Max with a long-lasting contract early this season (and lucrative too, apparently) as if he was God's gift; he hasn't repay their trust since, and keeps making costly mistakes.

Red Bull has thrown all their hopes behind the erratic young Dutch, when obviously the one they should have nurtured all along is the steady and points- scoring Ricciardo who is a better long term prospect. Daniel has taken the snub quite well, but is certainly looking for better pasture now.

If Red Bull doesn't find a good replacement in case of Ricciardo's departure, they will be left with Mad Max as lead driver, and he often confuses a track with a bowling alley. His father was the same, I remember...

Serious question: can you start from pit lane, but stay at your pit box, and immediately change tires without doing a lap?

    Nope...unfortunately.
Some guy called Gilles crashed or ended up in the gravel at every opportunity also. Max will get over his slump. **** happens. You act as if he's some idiot that's never finished a race before.

I think the problem is that they didn’t get him in control early on. They saw his over-aggressive driving habits and chose not to tame them. I get that, but at the same time you can’t have a driver destroying equipment race after race and not hold him accountable. There is a thin line between maturing like Hamilton or continuing like Grosjean. Right now, Max is leaning heavily to the Maldonado/Grosjean direction. He needs to shake himself, but I’m expecting he will aim for a heroic drive tomorrow to make up for being at the tail end of the grid

Agreed - I only hope this "heroic drive" doesn't end up in a few zillion broken carbon pieces (from himself and from others)...

Why is that funny ?, it almost sounds if it's anything personal.

It was pretty clear who was the better driver of the two when this season started, Max even beat Ricc on his own game last season, qualyfing.

At the age of 19 that is.

You might not like that, but I bet there's a lot more in the world you don't like.

Max has been making too many mistakes this season, which is obvious, it's more than obvious, it's strange.
