Dumb question about driving shoes!

I wear either Farragomo slip ons or Prada loafers, both are comfy

I wear Ferragamo Magnifico loafers everywhere. They look and work great.

But for a curved heel and added material for heel-and-toe work, you can’t beat Puma Speed Cats.

They do look like racing shoes, however.

I have about 250 pairs of shoes (yes my strange buying behavior extends to more than cars) and here is what I have found Tods (and other driving shoes with grooves or rubber bits) are fine if I am not driving a gearshift car. All my pedals had raised grips (whatever they call them) and so with my gearshift cars I have Puma, Porsche Design, Pirelli, Piloti etc. I only use shoes with plat bottoms in my gearshift cars. Other brands like Aquatalia & Mezlan have shoes that work well too.

Just looking at buying Piloti 'Prototipo' model or the more leather 'Prototipo GT.' Any feedback on these models or other brands greatly appreciated. Good thread OP.

Driving shoes only matter if you doing a heel and toe. If you're using floppies, it doesn't matter.

What about pedal feel for the throttle and brake pedals? Or the narrower fitting shoes so you don't touch pedals with one foot. And being able to 'roll' your heel for both brake and throttle pedals? Lightness of the shoes and material so your feet don't get too hot? Just some thoughts.

If you're not using a foot for each pedal you're not driving it right.

 

^ If narrower sneakers are your preference, I find the Puma brand to be narrower than many brands we get here in the States, which is why I prefer driving with them. The fact that they can be found with Ferrari logos is just a bonus.

I like Puma, or loafers...
I can heel toe my Cayman in pretty much any athletic shoe

 

unless you are driving a ferrari older than 30 years, you actually dont need driving shoes.

if you feel compelled, as some of us are, then puma makes some good ones, and i have also found the occasional deal from geox.
