Hi Christian, Ok these photos are strike related as you can tell by the we are stubborn unionists visual statement. I actually thought that was Bob on the right but I am not sure he was a member of the Modena chapter of the UAW back then
Are you sure about February 1974? Looking at the Meraks in the photo, all seem to have the flat engine cover. Early Meraks had a spare tire hump in the cover.
Hi Joe, you are right but that was only on US market Meraks and temporarily, for th early cars as you note, before the space saver doughnut spare tires were allowed when US regulators changed their mind.
Hello Terry, That would be unnecessary, my book is probably available at Autobooks in Burbank California for a normal price which would be less than half of what you mention. https://www.autobooks-aerobooks.com/ Otherwise to buy straight from the source my publisher in the UK routinely sends books all over the world in very sturdy bespoke packaging and there have never been any issues with the condition of the book when it arrives. http://www.eaurougepublishing.com/publications/detail/maserati-the-citroen-years Also in the Uk is Hortons Books the best car book shop in the world: http://www.hortonsbooks.co.uk/ Another alternative is Ebay as long as the seller has good feedback. Do NOT however buy on Amazon, not ever, they are lying bullies and do NOT have inventory no matter what they say. Again I got paid by contract long ago so not involved at all in book sales. Enjoy it Best regards, Marc
Marc- Thanks, found it on the Autobooks-Aerobooks site for $150, like you said. Will have to pick up a copy. Always loved that generation of Maseratis, even though I have never owned one.
Hello, I should be heading over to the east coast for two or three test drive bio articles in the northeast in summer or fall and then a few days R & R in Florida but west coast no plans so far... Anything interesting coming up?

Unfortunately this thread is discussing matters beyond that of Bora Photos, so I will correct that with this... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks very much for that Art, duly filed. I have not been to events in the northeast apart of Lime Rock vintage racing back in 1990...mostly Folorida, California and FCA national meets oh and two wonderful Maser Miglias where I drove a Bora 1997 Colorado and rode in one at top speed Nevada 2000. Will let you know when I come, enjoy your Bora Best regards, Marc
Bora checks out its new garage mate. Much in common and yet so different .... Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Somewhat like comparing a Pontiac Firebird, a Delorean creation, to a Ghibli. Delorean is said to have been inspired by the Ghibli and copied the basic layout of front engined V8 with a live axle rear end. The Maseratis have much more refinement especially the Bora. It's really the first civilized mid engined car though not as raw and sporty as the Pantera. Both are beautiful cars though rather plain Jane when compared with a Miura. The Miura is like a very hot looking date you just can't stop looking at but I'd never marry one! LOL. My Espada is handful enough! ! That's not the only time Detroit stole from Italy. One day while fettling those impressive webers on the side of a rural road in northern NJ a man pulled up and stopped to admire my Espada. It turned out he was a design engineer at Ford during the early run of the Espada. They bought one and kept it to study. They also used to take out at lunchtime with 4 aboard. He said you can see influences from it in the Ford Torino GT.
I highly recommend Marc's book. It is excellent in every way. Any owner or fan of the Khamsin, Bora, Merek, or Citroen SM should have a copy in his library.
There is no registrar alas, I might take that up if ever I am less busy, over swamped now. It is anybody's guess but I would be quite optimistic. You don't see them having been run into the ground or ending up in the wrong hands as can happen with less daunting cars. I did exchange emails about three years ago with a guy who had files on all of all those in France and they were pretty much still around, there is also the very helpful, great data source and registry for the cars sold new in France: http://www.thepenier-maserati-register.com i.e.e the files of the French importer at the time, which has a quite precise log of the 47 cars sold in France, almost 10% of total production including the Aga Khan's special order car (366, also one of the few 4.9 Euro cars, most being 4.7, it has been a project for ages) and a yellow one rolled almost new that was rebuilt decades later and which I inspected at an auction in 2014. 428 was in a very bad head on crash with racing driver Francois Migault, one person passed away in the other car, not Francois's fault, not sure if rebuilt. A special souped up yellow one in Germany was, according to Marcello Candini of the garage in Modena, destroyed and the owner killed. 470 totalled in a crash, sold for parts. Then there is a very serious Bora Group 4 evocation in France and one that is completely wrong, of course the two genuine Bora Group 4's are safe and sound in France. Boras were safe at the limit, far more than any other early mid rear engined car and built very well, very sturdily so it seems based on the French sampling that survival rates are very good, Of course in the US people drive far less than in Europe and there are numerous hyper low mileage garage concours queens. So they have survived much better than an other over hyped, over rated poorly built rust prone un-rigid prima donna built near Modena I can think of which tended to want to take off at speed and killed quite a few drivers. Let's stay on Bora topic please, not talk of this other car. If I have time, like I did with KHAMSIN QUARANTA in 2012 (27 Khamsins) and will do in 2022 -with hopefully Maserati Classiche's presence for judging again- KHAMSIN CINQUANTA (goal 50 of the 130 or so in running condition in Europe) I will with some partners organize a BORA CINQUANTA in Europe in 2021. Decision time early 2020.
Good question! Of the 483 produced according to Cozza: Image Unavailable, Please Login The only survival indication I am aware of is this--- and for UK only: https://classics.honestjohn.co.uk/how-many-survived/maserati/bora If we try to extrapolate from these numbers, and work with the original 42 RHD cars produced --- and make several very dubious and very non-scientific assumptions like UK is the only RHD country in the world! and that nobody in UK has a LHD Bora! etc etc---we reach an incredibly rough survival ratio of about 25-30%. Hope somebody has better data to contribute. Regards.
BTW that's my car Cozza is pointing to and the photo was take by a former friend of mine. In case you still had any lingering doubts about my ownership ...
You have to be talking about the uber dangerous late 70's Turbo Porsche no? They were manufactured in Modena? I knew that some of the BMW M1's were built at the Lamborghini factory but ...
