I have never tracked my 308, but really want to do so. Gave my BMW track car to my 15 year old nephew a few months ago. Maybe this autumn...

I HAVE taken the 308 to a hill climb. No run-off areas; only experts or crazy people run flat out. I took my time. Still great fun.

I don't believe my insurance coverage allows track use.

It may not but tracking is safer than driving to the grocery store.

No texting drivers, no drunk drivers, no 16 year olds...

Depending on the track you would have to almost deliberately crash to hurt yourself or your car.

I tracked for a good 15 years pretty hard. Only reason I backed off is because no one wants to anymore around here.

I'm glad I got my car and got in before most everyone around here lost interest.

i know its sad... cars are bought for collecting or cars and coffee it seems.

the PCA track day i went to last year, there was only one aircooled 911 running! it wasnt so long ago aircooled made up most of the entries.

I tracked motorcycles for years but not my 328; I was afraid my wife would show up in her Hyundai Santa Fe and produce a faster lap time. :)

The 308 is not a good track car. I've got a Lotus, which is 20 yrs older and will annihilate anything up to a 355 - and probably a few of those :p. Took it to Bathurst last year - had to turn up the limiter twice, to 8,200 rpm, and clocked 238 kph down Conrod Straight. It's far better to track a car that's set up for track work. The Lotus is mainly used for tarmac rallies

I would consider a road course

I think I would do well with my upgraded brakes, suspension and motor

I've tracked my car on 6 different Australian tracks... it's the only time it gets used anywhere near its potential aside from some special 'closed road' events. I'm not competitive, but it is a great way to learn how your car performs / reacts etc. Tracking doesn't mean abusing the car just driving it 'as intended'. Pic is the famous Philip Island circuit at the Australian National Rally - just an awesome day!
