Well, it happened. I had a mishap today in the garage with my 2015 Spider. The result was a small dent the size of a dime. The dent is in the lower half of the hood, which is covered with a clear bra, halfway between the driver's side edge and the center of the hood. There doesn't appear to be any paint damage. The car is scheduled to go to the dealership this week for it's annual service. Do I let the dealership handle it? Do I try a dent removal service, and if so, any recommendations? I'm in the NYC area. Thanks
If no paint was removed should be an easy fix. I would have the dealership deal with it...they know people...kill all birds with on stone...
Yes, I would let the dealer take care of this unless you get someone very highly recommended. would be great if you could post before and after pictures so we learn something from this. hopefully, it will turn out to be a quick fix for you. all the best
There must be dozens of very skilled and qualified shops that can do that for you, just ask around ...
The best guy around, BY FAR, is: Bobby Dent Devil. I have used him for several of my cars including a Porsche and 2 Ferraris. He is a master and does absolutely perfect work. He knows how to work with aluminum very well (different technique according to him). His phone# is 631-404-7831
Aluminum doesn’t have memory like steel does. When there is memory, it’s easier to pop the dent back into its original shape. So make sure whoever does it, has experience with aluminum.
I have done it myself but not on my 458; it was on my daily driver (steel-bodied). As everyone else said, go with someone with experience, visit them, see what other work they've done, check out their tools.
Thanks for the responses. Based on the majority of posts, I'll have the dealership handle it when they do the service. I'll post before and after pics.
Your dealer will know a specialist for this repair. Many times the location of the dent presents challenges in terms of access. It sounds like your dent is easy to access. Things get much harder with dents on the 3/4 panel or one that interrupts a design crease. And yes there are very skilled people in virtually every location. And they don’t just specialize in dented Ferrari’s! (They just charge a little more when they see a Ferrari) I’ve had two dents in 2 Ferrari’s. One in the door and one in the 3/4 panel. Both turned out perfect.
