Thank you Admiral for sharing your car over the years. Here are a couple pics I took at the 2015 FCA International Meet in Monterey/Carmel Valley. Image Unavailable, Please Login . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dear Dinosaur followers, On 24 June, 1960 when I handed over two checks totaling $2,225.00 for a pile of damaged goods I had no idea what the next 58 years would bring. So today looking back over those 58 years I am amazed at what has transpired. I have done more things with this car than I had ever dreamed and so now it is time to move on and transfer the custodianship role to the next person. I only hope they derive as much pleasure from telling people and driving this machine as I have. This short clip really sums it up nicely. https://www.facebook.com/petroliciou...8528370600377/ Best regards, __________________ Robert
I'm proud of you for being able to let go. They're great cars, but they're still just cars. It is always important to keep your priorities straight. May you have fair winds and following seas.
Dear Dinosaur followers, Re: "May you have fair winds and following seas." I suspect some salt spray background in the originator, thanks. After the shoot: https://www.instagram.com/p/BkLmoVdh...dingandcompany, Best regards, Robert
what wonderful car and story I wish you the best of luck at the. sale one question did you live in Va beach back in the 60s???
We lived in Va Beach from 75 to 80. The Mondial was under a brown bedspread in the back corner of the garage while twin-cam Europas were being restored next to it.
I recall seeing a body unfinished similar to the first picture in this thread many years ago in a garage.. I used to stop anytime I saw something interesting in a garage...just can't quite remember the details .. was wondering but I think it might have been before that .... I think it was in the Kempsville area???
Although we were in Kempsville, I don't think you saw our Mondial - it was still red (it wasn't bare aluminum until 2005/2006) in Va Beach and was never outside. I don't know of another sports racing Ferrari in Va Beach at that time - of course, that was back when these cars were worth perhaps $20k or so.
Dear Dinosaur followers, For the non-Hemmings watchers, the following link contains a good overview: https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2018/0...mment-10581581 Best regards, Robert

Dear Dinosaur followers, The Gooding Pebble Beach Auction catalog is now on line and the Mondial is Lot #22. https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1955-ferrari-500-mondial-series-ii/ Best regards, Robert
Dear Dinosaur followers, More video stuff, this time it is in the online Robb Report: https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/award-winning-1955-ferrari-500-mondial-heads-pebble-beach-auction-2807983/ You may turn off the sound and just enjoy the car photos. Best regards, Robert
Dear Dinosaur followers, Just received my copy of the Gooding Pebble Beach catalog for Friday 24 August and I really like the cover car! https://www.dropbox.com/s/roo49eethu4jgm2/Catalog%20cover%20copy.pdf?dl=0 Best regards, Robert
Dear Dinosaur followers, Last evening I came across a website new to me. It has a nice complimentary statement by Marcel Massini about my car. Further it has 59 photographs of my car, many of which I had never seen before. Have fun looking at: http://www.finecars.cc/it/editorial/article/news/the-admirals-1955-ferrari-500-mondial-series-ii-revealed-for-the-15th-annual-pebble-beach-auctions/index.html?no_cache=1&tx_ttnews[backPid]=302&cHash=eeed7777cd Marcel, thank you for your comment on the blue car. Expect to see you in Monterey. Best regards, Robert
Usually pre-sale estimates are on the high side. However, I'll stick my neck out and predict a sale higher than estimated. But what do I know? I've already proven that my crystal ball malfunctions.
Dear Ed, Methinks that your crystal ball is just fine, after all you have been writing to me for over forty years asking if I was ready to sell. Thinking about it, now is your chance finally! Very best regards, Robert
I will be there and very much look forward to see you, your better half and the blue car as well. PS: Please help me win the lottery, have been trying for weeks now, no luck, but still have almost three weeks to find the money. I would buy the blue car in a NY minute. Marcel Massini
Dear Marcel, I really appreciate your sentiment. My record in the lottery game is unblemished - zero results since I started. Of course you might count my check to Davis in 1960 for the Mondial as compensation for all the lottery contributions I have made. PS Is Evaline coming as well? Best regards, Robert
Admiral, thank you for your service, both to our country, and the Ferrari, and vintage car community. Wish I could see your blue car in person. It will always be the Admiral's Ferrari. Perry
I can't see this car going for $5.5 to 7 million. I'm thinking and hope it goes for well more than $10 million. I'd think every billionaire Ferrari collector who knows about the Admiral and this car would like to add it to their collection.
