My car is seriously delayed because of problems with this paint. Does anyone have info on this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same. The dealer said they have no idea. This is the only 2018 car that we will probably get in 2019 new lol most company will be selling 2020 cars when we get our 2018.
Does anyone work as a stock analyst or know people that do? Given that the company is now listed, maybe some news flow about the delays would cause the company to get it sorted. After all, the California was the company’s largest selling car in its history...
I am in the same boat. I was told they are still being produced but at a very slow rate until the problem is resolved. Should be worth the wait and make the color more unique as some decide to change colors.
Though I want to order this color, I can imagine future issues matching the paint in the “event” of an issue down the road Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
There seems to be a general delay on all Ferrari's at the moment. My dealer told me that he has just started to receive Portofino's which were originally June / July deliveries. My car was meant to be delivered at the end of October is now going to be next year. He also said that he was having delays with other models too.
Damn! I was not aware of that situation. The dealer here (Europe) has not mentioned anything. I am going for Roso Portofino too. Of course it is only barely 2 months that I have signed and paid the first advance. He said that he will try for a delivery before the August break. He didn't mention anything about a problem with the Roso Portofino color when I chose for that in the initial spec. I am not willing to change that anyway.
I ordered Verde British in April and was told November delivery. Now it is early next year. The build has started, but this color has to be painted at another location. Anyone who can explain, please chime in.
Not sure what is going on- But at least you are getting a timeline. With the Rosso Portofino- we are not getting any timeline.
With any other company you’d get (a) some form of update / explanation and (b) a discount or other form of compensation for such a significant delay. Ferrari treats its customers like crap, because it can. I doubt I’ll ever buy another one, at least not new. Kind of wishing I’d bought a Lambo... On another note, I’m looking into ordering mine in Rosso Fuoco instead. For all intents and purposes a very similar colour and presumably not delayed (since they know how to make it... unlike RP!!)
How much extra was the colour as I was told on a 812 it was 18,000 vs 7,000 for Portofino Red on my car?
Final configuration was in August for nov/ dec delivery- that was the plan- now it’s indeterminate. The paint option was 12,500US
Ferrari's site includes an article written in August about a change in the paint application process. They are changing the paints to allow them to be baked on at a lower temperature that can be simultaneously applied to different materials. This may likely be the cause of the paint delay, but should produce a better product. The link is: https://auto.ferrari.com/en_US/news-events/news/ferrari-introduces-worlds-first-low-bake-paint-technology/
Update - So, I will get exact ETA next week but looks like the paint color has cause really serious delays. I have decided if ETA is too long I will be switching to Blu TDF with yellow calipers, yellow stitching. I am sad about not getting RP but I am too eager to get the car. I have a fantastic sales person (Tyler) and know he will take care of me. He is just as frustrated as I am. Definitely disappointed that Ferrari Corp was not more transparent with the delays on RP. I will give another update next week on exact decision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Much as I am a fan of Blu TdF which by the way is changing slightly to a lighter blue 70 Anni color; what about another dark red like Rosso Maranello which is painted off site as it's a multi layer paint process?
