You're thread title was dead-on. I'm a total purist and I just fainted. But, as I always say, everyone needs to enjoy their car as they wish. That's the important thing.

 

I agree with what someone else posted about the stripe seeming to be too wide. Looks out of proportion somehow. But I like the overall look. Gold coffin wheels would look even cooler!!

If we could get a sample of that Dow coating we can get a paint code
too much yellow and brown in vht

Unless someone is paying to maintain your car for you they can go pound sand.

Who cares about other people and their personal opinions about you and what you like? Doesn't matter.

 

Are those vents on your quarter panel? Turbo? Functional?

 

This is exactly what I want to do.

 

I think it looks very period correct, and does look like a special tribute edition.

If the factory did this in period as a tribute to eg. a ralley racing win, the car would be incredibly collectible. People would obsess over the stripe being the correct width to the mm, and Classiche would have a field day proving the provenance.

You should never have disclosed the wheel colour code. The world's greatest restorers would be obsessing about the getting the color correct... "All they had to go on was a grainy photo taken after the ralley race. The wheel color was believed to be a melted gold compound designed to sling off mud and decrease unsprung weight..."

I love it when people make something their own. THAT is how legends and myths are created!

Cool to see this thread come back. Mine is the GT4 above. I restored and modified my BBS wheels. It was an extensive process. I reached out to a bbs expert restorer and he snubbed me on sharing the color. So I looked at a million golds until i found what I thought was right. I sent the expert my results and the first response was “what paint did you use?” I shared it back with him and reminded him of how he wouldn’t share and that it wasn’t helpful. I got the paint at house of color. It is right for bbs but maybe not all the wheels. Pic is below. We should share everything!
