I still see the early type door hinges on #02750 E-series, seem original to me.
Does Matthias or anyone else have an update on when the hinge type changed?

Thanks... I’ve been looking around for new early type pins and they are available in stainless steel with new brass caps ($499/set), which I’ve used before however I think these might wear the door hinges over time.
There’s a trade off on corrosion resistance vs wear.... I had a hell of a time removing the pins on my E-series, blow torch, 2 lb hammer and drift but ended up drilling one out.

I found all 4 caps for my E-series (two under the seat!) so I’m thinking of having a run of new pins made in mild steel and reuse my caps, unless Alberto or someone has already done this?

Came out rather well, the lathe work, not the pins.
They were hell to remove, but then they were never intended to, right ?

Andrew, yes, we did have 4 pins made.

    Regards, Alberto

PS. This thread is 8 years old?
