The electronic button in the cabin for the trunk works intermittently (50% of the time) Trunk opens just fine when pulling the emergency release strap on the rear deck.

What should I check first for I termittent issue? Thanks.

Remove switch and and check switch function with ohm meter. If switch is fine, probably solenoid.

May just be an adjustment issue, too. Have someone push the button while you watch what is happening.

My 456 truck does not pop up. The solenoid disengages but I have to get my fingernails underneath the trunk lid to get it up. Pretty far down my list right now but curious about your issue and resolution.

Never use the button. Easier to use the pull handle after you're out and your going to get out anyway.

Bruce- I always use the button and have for 10 years. Those cables are known to stretch and break, so I would use them for back-up only.

Replaced switch also and it fixed the same problem.

The body of the switch has spring steel clips that hold it in place. Use a very thin metal pry tool (plastic are typically too thick) and get the pry tool under the lip of the switch and then pry it from the trim.

In this photo you can slightly see the one of the metal clips.
