308DP full spider, white, what happened to it?

    Can't remember what Calif. event I saw it at. It was a white 308, not a GTS but a full spyder. I heard it was converted by a company called DP Design in Germany owned by a former Ford designer striking out on his own. It was explained to me the chrome roll bar to be raised by the driver (I don't know if hydraulically or by hand and then bolted into its up position). I was wondering if many were made, how structurally sound they were, and if that car (white interior too) sold in the US subsequently and if it's being shown today (for the strict constructionists, I don't know if it would qualify at concours where only factory built cars are allowed)

    I remember this car. Would love to see pictures. My Friends Dad had a 930 DP slant nose with something like 5 or 600 HP. Who knows but it was a crazy amount of HP.

    YEP.

    Last I knew, 'S' was for 'Spyder/Spider' and 'B' was for Berlinetta.


    This abortion would be a 'C' for Cabriolet.

    GTS is similar to Porsche targa or Corvette C4/5/6/7 - car of this thread is a full convertible conversion - not factory made.

    GTB is the Coupé version with closed roof.

    But “S” on the Ferrari GTS stands for Spyder.

    Ferrari calls everything with a moveable roof a "spyder", whether it's a targa or a convertible... see the 355 for example. The GTS label means Spyder, but the actual 355 Spyder is a convertible.

    So I think we have to leave their designation aside at times to clearly communicate what sort of style a car actually is.

    They not only made a full convertible from a GTS, but also performed amputations of complete Boxer and testarossa roofs.

    I asked former L&R guys and they think this white one could be an original L&R - after holidays they wil have a look in the old books.
