Meh. I’d take it with a grain of salt. I think there are plenty of events for Chicago region members. Are there times when people have been more active? Probably when Joe was alive and had the “come on over “ events at the Como Inn, but I think the Chicago Region is getting busier again. Remember, Central Region has hosted at least three FCA National meets that I know of. 1979 at Blackhawk. 1989 at RA. And the one at RA in 2016(?) I’m sure I’m forgetting a few. I don’t think anyone else has hosted more. Hats off to the current leadership, I think they are doing their best to broaden the base and make people feel welcome.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login BTW, an FCA blast from the past for all of you tots (present company included). These are from my father’s collection. This is from issue #1 of Prancing Horse.
Image Unavailable, Please Login As far as I know, issue #4 is the first one to have the original logo. And you really don’t want to see what was in the “Sell and Swap” section.
well I wont make the drive to morengo since my boy is signed up for soccer again, which im pissed about but im planning on going to fuelfed lake forest weather permitting, you know the GT4 is big bux now a days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,, lol
Darn those pesky kids I’ll miss the 14th for a college visit with my son on the 14th and 15th. We’ll catch up at some point. Hoping to take the car out tomorrow for a shake down run. BTW, not picking up a 308 Dino when they were affordable is on my top ten missed car purchase regrets. That and the ISO Rivolta for 8,500 in 2005, and the Aston Martin V8V for 28k in 2007, and...coulda, woulda, shoulda.
rivolta is cool! very Maserati. still some good deals on GT4s out there. hope to see you soon and others I haven't met yet.. Ghost, tifosi , etc tommy, amenesce. something like that
I am pretty sure a lot of the higher production number cars will come down, in fact I would lay money on it. The super rare stuff will always be expensive especially if it says Ferrari on it. Air cooled Porsche 911's make me laugh. You know there is an endless supply of those things as they made almost a half million of them over the years(many years). The funniest are the backdated 1980's 911's that look like pre 1974 RS's. They sell for over $100,00.00 on BAT, and have no real collector value. Sort of like custom hot rods I guess if you find the right sucker.
Looks to have not been updated in a while, social media seems to have stopped after September 2018. Did shoot them an email to check if the schedule will be updated
I thought I saw somewhere on facebook they said that it was still scheduled for the first Saturday of each month for 2019. Ill try to find where they had said that.
anyone going to lake forest sunday? as usual weather permitting! I should buy a honda and join a honda club so weather wouldn't matter
well here we go again with crappy weather. And the icing on the the cake is that I brought the car back to the body shop on Monday and was supposed to have it back by Friday. But now it wont be ready till Monday. Yay for me.
Thanks JP365 for the history on the club. I put on the annual meet in Rockford in 1979, relaxed and fun for all. Speaking of Ken Hutchison, has anyone heard from him? I lost contact with Ken when he moved from Illinois to somewhere in Mo. Great guy had great cars, but that is another story. Jim
I saw over twenty cars either spun out or crashed on my way up to Ann Arbor this afternoon. Crazy weather. Roads would go from damp to slush and then back to rain in less than two miles.
yes I believe it. I didn't have gas for the snow blower and had to shovel the drive. I left a testes in the driveway
I plan on going. I have a 97 Land Rover Defender but FuelFed gave me a classic sticker for the past two years. I am glad to see the ‘featured’ marks for shows this year. If they had it last year I didn’t realize.
hope two see u there Joe. ill wear my Fchat hat, ill be the one with the Avorio GT4. I think I saw you got a 308? congrats if you did
