Well, I can see both sides of the fence here. On my former 355, all of my caps were cracked so I went with the Ricambi method ... drill, screw and pull. On my 430, all were pretty decent so I went with the wheel off and pop out from back method. That way, I can always replace them with the original (not as bright yellow) caps.
The new caps will fade and crack again . Some sinister plan to get us to buy more sets. which is weird because center caps on Japanese cars last the entire lifetime of the car. Go figure? “Sharing is Caring...”
Oh great. Another project. Good thing I have an impact wrench to speed up wheel removal (but always install and torque by hand). Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Sorry for going a little off topic , but aren’t you guys even a little annoyed with the wheel caps costing 3-4x the price of the average car’s wheel cap and being 1/3 to 1/4 as durable or lasting. Heh. I fail to grasp this logic. Seriously , when was the last time you had a Friend driving a jap car tell you he’s gotta replace his wheel caps. Heh (Just 4 laughs!) “Sharing is Caring...”
Wow. Who would have known asking a simple question would get so much dander up. Yes, I have a floor jack, yes I have the tools. My center caps were pretty bad. Drill. Screw and pull. Done in 10 minutes.
I appreciate doing things the right way, and I normally always do. But I see no reason to treat broken pieces of plastic that can easily be removed WITHOUT taking off the wheel with such respect... For those of you wanting to do the "drill out" method, here it is - it takes 30 seconds per cap.
