Hi All, This may sound like a ridiculously simple question but I was wondering which engine oil you would all recommend for the 612? Is it the Shell Helix HX7 5W-40? Thanks!
Affirmative, any good synthetic in 5W-40 or 0W-40 will work. I use Valvoline 5W-40 full synthetic in mine.
Way more than enough. Total capacity is 12 liters, and you likely cannot get that much out. Do not overfill or it will make a real mess.
Terry, thank you so much! I recall reading about overfilling now that you mention it. I will be careful! Much appreciated again.
I use Mobil 1 0w-40 European. For some reason Walmart.com has the 5 liter for the low price of $22.88. Buy 2 and they ship for free. Can't beat it for under $46. For a good price on filters, I usually find that Ferrari of San Francisco sells 2 UFI OEM for around $55 on ebay though I just looked and they are up to $72 with free shipping. T Rutlands has the for $68 with the shipping. Don't know the Ricambi price at the moment.
Peter, thank you so much! I managed to get 15 litres of the Shell Helix 0W-40 for 85 Euros delivered. The two filters were brought through an independent dealer for 52 Euros delivered so considering these are European i.e. more expensive prices, I think I did fairly well. Thanks to you, Terry and ttforcefed for the advice.
Thanks Peter... things tend to be more expensive here in Europe so I agree I got a good deal. Take care
Hi Is the below the correct type for U.K. cars? https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/shell-helix-ultra-engine-oil-5w-40-1ltr-521772212
I used this during my recent service. Initially, I added 8 quarts of the fresh oil, then carefully sneaked-up on the final quantity by adding a little more then checking the dip stick (engine running), and repeating several times until the level was good. I used almost exactly 10 quarts. I absolutely did not want to overfill the engine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
