Hi everyone! I am still looking for my first Ferrari. I've been waffling between 328's 348's and possibly a 355 for a while. I may have found a 348 Spider that I'm trying to work a deal on. Has anyone done business with Continental Ferrari up in Chicago? Are they good and honest / reputable to work with? Does anyone on here know anything about the 348 Spider they currently have for sale that has lived it's entire life in Chicago? Thanks, Jeff Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've been to their place a few years ago, plus I've bought many items from them over the years. Always a pleasant experience with good/great pricing. While I've never bought a car from Continental Auto Sports, nor had any service work done, my confidence level with them is high. Also, they're a sponsor here as well.
They are a sponsor here. So you may want to send them a PM and let them know you are looking at a car there. If it goes bad, you have a pretty big audience. I had my car corrected there after Lake Forest tried a stunt with a service effort. They seem OK. But I also have never bought a car there.
I had my last major service done at Continental and thought they were good to deal with. The staff is very knowledgeable, while the service was done correctly and in a reasonable time. The other guy in Chicago? Not so much. I have not bought a car from Continental, but certainly would not hesitate to do so. JK
While I also have not bought a car there, a friend of mine from Michigan has, and he was quite pleased. He dealt with a guy named Lonny Tsang who apparently has been there over 30 years. That kind of continuity usually means the place is very stable.
As others I have not bought a car there, but have been visiting since the 90s and they have always treated me well. fun to go to the literature sale they have every year. I saw the car you are looking at last weekend and feel it is a nice example. I have a 348 spider myself. would not hesitate myself to buy from them.
Thanks to all. Regarding the one I’m looking at, did you notice anything noteworthy about the car? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

Nothing too notable. there is a clear bra on the bumper. noted other areas of front with small stone chips, but to be expected in an antique car. was told it had tools and service history, but did not see those in person or hear the car run. Kevin
Thanks Kevin, the salesman told me about the stone chips, but said they were pretty minor. No big deal for me, I appreciate an original car. I’ve seen the service records back to 2004, which are all just oil services and major services... really not much else. I haven’t heard it run yet, but if we work out a few numbers I’m going to fly up there and drive it and check it out as I’m in Florida. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Nice! Including the price! First thing I'd do is get rid of the aftermarket electronics up front (looks like a CD changer).
Jeff, I think you will be getting a great deal with the recent service, etc. I live in Indiana, if you drive it back home you should stop by.
