I love Diablos... unfortunately judging by the market, so does everyone else. If it ever dips I want to get one.
To the OP, have you driven a preLP Gallardo? I have to agree with CarAholic and Fastviper ... a preLP Gallardo drives like a truck that's low to the ground ... kind of lumbering around ... not like a Ferrari that's nimble and light on it's feet. I drove a preLP thinking I might get one, but after the drive, no way. I drove an LP560-2 50th Anniversary gated manual and it's much better ... although I'd rather have my 430 gated manual. So if you're gonna jump ship, get an LP RWD stick. Good luck!
I am biased towards Ferrari, but I do really appreciate Lambo's. One day, I drove a Gallardo immediately followed by a 430, and the difference was stark. As other have stated, the Lambo drove like a truck. It felt heavy, soft on brakes, and less responsive on shifts and corners. Compared to a 360, I would still take an F1 over a Gallardo, and gated more certainly so. For me, the overall experience was better in the Ferrari (both 430 and 360) than the Lambo.
The secret to getting more leg room is to raise the front part of the seat. Mine (secondary cats removed, aftermarket muffler-less exhaust) isn't too loud.....straight pipes would be stupid loud. The vibration....can't do anything about that, rumbling V-12 at its best.
Feedback has been awesome all! In the end I decided to hang onto the 360, i just had a sense of buyers remorse before even getting to Lambo and that was enough to steer me away. If nothing else in the future I may add one to the garage but even then, I think a 458 is the next step for me.
Why would anyone buy a gallardo? V10 just sound terrible and not to mention the right quarters. Don't get it.
I checked out an early gallardo that had a Meisterschafft (or some similar name) exhaust on it. Honestly sounded awesome....very raspy, aggressive sounding. Better than a CS....somewhat similar to a Capristo level 3 wide open, Just saying.
V-10s can sound epic......CGT for example. And the Huracan gets rave reviews for sound. The Gallardo just needs a less restrictive exhaust to bring out a better sound.
A stock 360 sounds quite terrible to be honest until you put a tubi or capristo on it. Even then below 3000RPM they really resonate and dont sound great at all. Lambo/Audi V10, LFA V10, CGT just sound fanastic across the entire rev range.
To answer the OP's original question: No. Hell No. But the Lambos have never appealed to me. From a design standpoint it's like the European Corvette to me. Crazy, wild, over the top, competing angles and lines, vents, and needless bling. Ginger or Maryanne. I'll take Maryanne every time
I have both, despite what some have said here, the pre LP gallardo V10 with proper exhaust is epic. 360 and 430 have better visability, but the Gallardo is more unique looking and feels more powerful.
