Worth the trade plus around $200k of new cash. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
nope. Not a chance I would do it for that price. First they havent announced the F8 spider yet, although I'm sure they would. Second, I think your math may be off. You would get 250kish on trade in for the 488 spider - an F8 spider will likely be 325-350k. not sure where you are getting the 200k delta from.
The differential cost you (the OP) mentioned does seam extraordinarily high. That said, if you can afford it and love the F8 that much, go for it; YOLO. Me ….. I'm more than happy with my 2018 488 and there's not a chance in hell I'd cough up that kind of jack for an F8.
come on now, you know that is just plain dumb. ZERO chance the F8 is that much better vs what you have. Wake up.
With my options (paid $400k for 488) Think it will cost me around $450 all in for F8) So with $250 trade in need another $200k. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I’d do 8 bucks for pizza and 18 for beer, but my priorities are admittedly suspect. Re OP’s query: no. IMO the difference in 488 and F8 is not worth the spend.
If you drop 400k on a 488 then obviously money is not an issue for you cause a well equipped 488 would Be much less. And to spend 450k on an f8 is something I personally would never do cause if you think the depreciation on a 488 is bad- wait till you see what happens to the f8. Sure - go for it. It’s only 200k Knock your self out and take the hit. It’s only money.
In a way I would say the same thing but seeing the F8 in person and having a 488GTB right next to it you help thinking the F8 looks better. Then add all the engine stuff. Interesting though is the trade in value and the cost of the F8 . You guys quite obviously got a higher price increase for the F8 than we did. OP : Certainly not worth it if its a short term thing. But if I was you ild wait for the VS as the spyder will still be available and make up your mind from there as going by your build price it has a lot of carbon
Agree with you but having seen the F8 I see it more as a luxurious version of a Pista. Above the 488 GTB but without that track looking aspect . Some people like myself will see it that way. Don't like alcantara or carbon fibre, prefer electric seats , leather , leather , leather, aluminium.
My completely biased opinion: for a "berlinetta", yes - F8 over 488. But for a spider, no - a spider is somewhat compromised anyway regarding performance, so the 488 is already more than is needed, and the F8 will be even more of a waste...
Considering the fact that these cars seem to be as closely related as they are, I would not do it until I had seattime. I prefer the look of the 488, so for me it would need to be worth it from a pure drivers perspective. Only you know what's right for you. With these cars, common sense and price sometimes need to take a backseat and let the emotions rule. If the car speaks to you and you feel that it will make you happy, yes it's worth it. If not, and you're unsure of the value and the car itself, then wait.
if you have money to burn cld be fun....brownie points with your dealer might be valuable. by all reasonable metrics the answer is no way.
Fwiw what i find myself pondering as opposed to playing with the new stuff - getting a scud and speciale to add to my cs and then adding a pista in 3 or 4 years when i know what the market has voted. Lots of way to have fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If it makes you happy go for it,the no’s don’t work for me there is not enough of a Difference to warrant 200 If theF8 is going to be the Toyota Corolla of Ferrari as suggested by motortrend magazine can’t imagine depreciation
No one knows the answer- since none of us have driven an F8 coupe, never mind a spider. There aren't even journalist reviews yet. I think you have to examine your objective. If it is to get on lists, then its as @ttforcefed says, there is a purpose. But if its to have the latest hot car, you already have one of the best ones out there. I will step out and just say what crossed my mind, even if it doesn't apply: if you can swing a little extra, take that ~200k new money and put it towards an F12b. Then you'd have an awesome NA V12 coupe to go along with your open top V8 turbo spider.
The F8 is going to do well. The MSRDP base in the US is 270k most spec will be between 300 and 350 K. It will not be the Toyota Corolla of Ferrari imho irrespective of the opinion of motor trend. Depreciation; that’s another story. Welcome to the new world of Ferrari as a public company. Wait a minute who said buying a car is an investment !!! Ring around the roses pocket full of poses they all fall down the depreciation path except the limited edition ones.
