Ferrari was running in reduced power mode for reliability reasons. there was nothing comfortable about 2nd place...
Nice place to win your first even under the circumstances. CL is number 108 to win an F1 race. Norris driver of the day , well deserved.
Very jolly! I need to learn just enough Italian to sing it! It is the only anthem that is always sung by the pit crew.
Not to pile on Vettel - he did his best today - but today really drives home how Ferrari's percieved form these last couple of years, compared to Merc, was skewed using Vettel as the reference. He just can't seem to work around set up issues and just carry on like a Leclerc, HAM or VER. In short, I think Vettel made the Ferrari look a lot worse the last couple of years than they really were. Based on Vettel today, you'd say Ferrari were second best (and they were in SOME areas) but nevertheless they WON. Even their strategy was good.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Great race for Lewis today. Max out in first corner was last driver who still had a chance to challenge Lewis for drivers championship this year. Nice to see a Ferrari win for a change of pace, Good for F1.
Well there was a crash and stalled car on the track. I'm surprised they didn't deploy the safety car for the last 1/2 of the final lap.
Super win for Ferrari and Charles. Team win! Now please fix the chassis to maximize the power available OK??????????????????????????????? Significant damage control for Mercedes. Charles driver of the day with Albon for me!!
Exactly...if they let the guys still race with the crash and stalled car let the winner get his first victory lap ever...
I don't think it had to do with the stationary cars - don't they usually cut out the victory lap at Spa?
If you mean the sharp right after La Source and the checkered flag, they always do that at Spa - the lap is too long to let the cars do one more. In the old days, half of them would probably have run out of fuel.
That's a good point. Maybe they could have made an exception for first F1 win ever if he had enough fuel...oh well.
Can’t believe how bad Renault is , at this rate they are going to give Williams a run for the worst cars on the grid , terrible for a factory team
The early pit stop for Vettel was a strategy mistake, that was not clear at the moment (but good strategists would have known) but became clear later - there was no way the tyres could last til the end (even Leclerc had virtually no tyres in the end in spite of stopping way later) and it was impossible to make up the time lost in the second pit stop. Looking how it was close for Leclerc, in spite of being protected by Vettel for a while, my take is that Ferrari is not really at Mercedes level - starting with 1-2 on the grid maybe the best they could have done would have been 1-3, still favouring Leclerc but not screwing up the strategy. In short, I think Ferrari made Vettel look a lot worst the last couple of years than he really was
