There are always mice in our garage....sometimes chewing on insulation, carpet, and wire bundles.
I have heard about a Honda electrical tape with capsasen hot spice in it which the mice leave alone. The stuff is about $50 per roll.....anyone with experience with it? Honda part number 4019-2317

    Buy a bottle of Vinegar.

I use a couple of snap trap in the garage with a peanut hot-glued to the trigger and a piece of string tied to the one end to make pick-up easier. They seem to have an indefinite supply. from 2 a day to 1 every 4 months. It varies.
and I've read that dryer sheets in key areas (like bonnets & trunks) help.
or a cat is a good investment :)

I swear by electric traps now. Quick, effective, easy. Around $40 on Amazon. Bait with a handful of peanuts. Good for mice, chipmunks and even squirrels.

Now we just have worry about the rattlesnakes, coyotes and bears!

The only noise these make is after a kill they beep to indicate the trap needs to be emptied.

I've had good luck -- so far -- using open boxes of mothballs in each of my cars.

I have used cayenne pepper for many years on my customers cars. Not the best for keeping the engine compartment looking good but works well. Mist the area with water and sprinkler the cayenne pepper on. When mice or squires get it on there feet and lick it they don't come back.
