^ Yes that's what I work with primarily (LS engines, or LT now). Based on the graphs there is a good high rpm gain at the expense of torque, but that's how it usually works out. That would equal better acceleration driven in anger but it pushes the peak rpm up so high you would need a raised rev limiter to get the most out of it. (and it's been mentioned by Rifledriver in the past that the connecting rods and timing belts may not appreciate that) I have no issues with hydro lifters either but don't think solids would be that big of a problem considering the engine will be out every 5 years (or whatever) anyway.
I thought he mentioned that the belt life is greatly decreased. I don't think connecting rods are the weak link, they are made of titanium after all.
as lang as were removing motors why not a 600whp subaru motor you'll have lots of room too work. A Subarrari. Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Funny you bring that up. While at a desert track last year a famous subi driver asked me how much was I overheating on the track that day. Told him I was up to at normal operating temps and I was set up to run marathons in 105 degree weather. Totally blew his mind as he said he was overheating after a few laps. The desert will break everyone
an engine swap in a 355 is missing the point imo. I remember this post from 2016 about a 348 that with pushed up to over 400hp with mainly just an intake https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/the-naturally-aspirated-400-hp-348-yes-for-real.511097/ Makes me wonder if the 355 would benefit from better designed intake.
It was a bit more than just an intake though to be fair... Engine swapping a ferrari is odd what makes it a ferrari is the engine. It seems to make more sense to put a ferrari engine in a golf. But different stokes for different folks some just like the challenge in which case it makes sense, its the journey not the destination I imagine. Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Don't think there's much to do there with ITB's and velocity stacks. Of course you could do some experimentation but looks like a very nice setup from the factory.
+25 HP claim and suppose to end CEL for those with CAT delete/bypass pipes? is there anyone that has gone for this 2k upgrade? Bueller.....Bueller.....
I have been lurking for quite a long time. It seems like you have said what has been done to JVBs car. I am looking to buy a entry level car but I would like to make it fast. I have money saved to buy. I am an electrician and I am just about to buy. I dont mind doing the hard work to make it fast and I have the time.
I think Bob all ready answered this. All the things he did gave about 40hp. My guess and Bob please correct if I am out to lunch but in my experience from what I have done is about this Exhaust and intake add 20hp. Porting 2, fueling and tuning maybe 1 to 2 but better drive ability , timing 2, freshen up engine 4, lighter wheels 2, colder air intake 2 vs the 5.2 warmer air, I might be missing a few. If your James size this won’t work but if your my size dropping 50lbs adds lots. Ha ha
Did Bob post flow numbers from the heads? Different motors obviously, but on sbc's heads and cam make the biggest difference by far
The new owner has the flow figures but they were significant. I think what gets missed is yes you gain 40 rwhp at the max but you gain that and more all along the torque curve and power band. The car drives completely different went you have more midrange and low end power. Torque comes in at lower rpm. Throttle response in infinitely better. When people say the 355 is dead below 5000rpm these mods change that. Being in the right gear is not as important when you have more power all along the power band. Max numbers do not tell the whole story.
Yes on the torque. It would be good to see the new torque curve. Torque gets you there and horsepower keeps you there. It's why the Audi diesel was so dominant.
Image Unavailable, Please Login surely someone has tried the Fabspeed ECU ExperTune software?? anyone....???? +25 HP and no more CEL is using CAT deletes; sounds like a deal
I agree 1000% not going to happen with the 5.2. Had those suckers wide open. Only a few things to change short of a complete makeover that wont cause issues. Here is the CC460 chip I pulled out of the ECU and had my way with. Image Unavailable, Please Login
