Im looking to have aftermarket seats put into my car and I'm wondering who makes rails that are plug and play? thanks
Not sure what mounts are in my car. I've bought parts from bcwawright before - as I think you have - and with his extensive parts listing I would think he has a good handle on what works.
Found this company who makes the baseplate for the 360s and 430s. Going to see if they can make me one for a 355. Planted Technology Seat Brackets for aftermarket seats OMP, Recaro, Sparco, Cobra... - FERRARI Anyone in the Washington state area feel like bringing their 355 in for a custom fitting?
Curious what seats you are thinking of installing ? Are your seats manual ? Wonder if anybody has installed aftermarket seats in a spider with electric seats ??? If yes what type, model and cost.
Without slider. Pole positions will sit perfect with that base plate. With slider, might be a bit high. The trick is to find a low profile base plate or a slider system specifically for our cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ASM Recaro side brackets are low profile and discreet unlike the general recaro brackets most others know of. They can only being sourced through GoTuning in the U.S and shipped from Japan. Supposedly several months wait. I am currently in Japan so I'm going to see if they have any readily available. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Go Tuning Unlimited Car specific seat rails. I am trying to find if they were ever made for the 355 or any that close. This would be the perfect low profile solution.
Update: No go on Ferrari 355 specific recaro seat rails. I visited Super Autobacs, which is the sole distributor for Recaro Japan. One of the Recaro "specialist," said Recaro had tried to make a slider for the 355, but often found their jig to be inconsistent because 355s are hand made and measuremeants are usually off. I dont know if i really believe that, but whatever. He said youre better off having a shop customize your brackets/adapters to ensure proper/accurate mounting. Recaro does sell a universal slider for recaro seats and they are readily available in the U.S. They are about 22mm tall. You will still need to fabricate an adapter for the car. Ken I had told Ryan that a custom built adapter would probably be the best way to go. This is such a simple project and can be done by anyone who has a metal brake and mig welder. If you don't have a brake just get some 4"x4" angle steel. 3/16" plate(4"x4"...2ea per slider) welded to the bottom section of the slider....drill holes for chassis mount. This will keep seat height down low especially when you use the correct slots on the side mount brackets. After welding just clean up the welds and prime/paint. The side mount seat brackets bolt to the sliders without any issues/problems
thanks for checking Ken and thanks for the info as always Bruce. I've got my seats now it's just time to get some brackets made.
Ken that looks awesome.....like those just as much as the 355CH Factory seats. The Recaro seats appear to be a little more on the user comfort side while still maintaining race track performance.
Just curious how are these mounted? Are they attached directly to the floor with no rails? I'm trying to figure out how best to mount a set of bucket seats to my 355 but can't find the proper hardware without getting custom brackets.

interesting, I like how your console is completely clean of any indicators or markings, like a true race car. are those custom brackets?
True race cars had their instrument clusters and consoles placarded and labeled like this Porsche 917K... Image Unavailable, Please Login And to a lesser extent, My F355 Challenge... Image Unavailable, Please Login
My driver's side OMP racing seat is mounted on an OMP slider which in turn is mounted on OMP brackets. The passenger side seat is fixed... Image Unavailable, Please Login
