Isn’t it funny how you posted this exact comment, word for word, in multiple threads. Just sayin. I think it really tells you how focussed on the 812 you are Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am going thru the exercise of coming to grips letting my 488 go as there is really nothing I do not like about it. As a leap of faith, it seems like others(who have both the 812 and 488) have said, when choosing whether to drive the 812 or 488, the 488 sits it out. When I test drove the F-8 but the 812 first, when I had a chance for a third test drive, I chose the 812.
Don’t have a 812 yet. But when I was thinking about thinning the herd I was choosing between the F12 and 488 spider. Couldn’t decide so I kept both. So different in style it’s not about the car per se. Both do their job so well that it’s about the job not the car. Every time the front 12 gets the nudge I get in the 488 and well it’s a hard decision. In my case it’s also a spider so there is that. I am ordering a 812GTS. So at some point I will decide F8 vs 812.
Great plan. If you can keep both, that's the way to go. My 812 will be here is a couple of weeks. Can't wait for a drive.
FWIW we found the 488s to be a great GT, but not special enough. The720s is yet a better GT in many respects. On the hunt now for a V12 after having the V10 Perf S for a year. I haven’t warmed to the 812 styling yet, hoping it wears on me soon!
To 4 Eff Sake, yes I posted the same thing in both threads because it’s happening in both threads and that’s why it seems significant. I was wondering if anyone else noticed. And yes, I have the car and love the car, but that’s not why I posted.
Left my 488 spider for the 812 although I love open top cars. The 488 and F8 which I test drove came nowhere near the experience of the 812. I know the styling has left some less than enamored with the car but the surface detail is astounding for a regular production car. I’ll live with the 812 hoping the GTS has the same drama-sight,sound and speed. We’ll see. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
F12. So much easier on the low end. Less attention...... More like a GT and more practical. That said I do not hesitate to take my 488 to work or anywhere I go. Even Disney ( I live near Orlando). I use my cars- all of them. Scotts
My 812 will be ready for delivery tomorrow.... So excieted... I am keeping my 488 along w my 812....the 488 is a keeper for me and the 812 is a keeper too Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
Nice. I drive my cars to work as well as long as it's not raining. Otherwise take the beach car 19 Mini Countryman S. Fortunately my round trip commute is 12 miles so I'm able to keep the overall mileage at 3000 miles per year. I ask about the practicality of the F12 because I wonder if the relatively longer hood makes traversing narrow lanes/tight parking garages more challenging which is a common issue where I live. For example, I need to roll down and peek out the driver-side window when exiting the parking garage at work because it's narrow, curved and easy to scrape the front wheels. I dislike mid-sized sedans/SUVs for this reason, too easy to suffer door dings or curb rims. Although owning an AMG GTS which also has the longer hood, I still feel more comfortable in the 458/Huracan set up. Big congrats on the 812 joining your new Urus.
I had an AMG SLS GT and that had a longer hood than the 812. From a handling point of view there is no comparison- the 812 drives like it’s a foot shorter than it is- not as precise as the 458/488- but unless you are a track rat or canyon carver on the edge- there is no significant advantage of one over the other(except the front sight lines are better on the 458/488) on the street Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
In all these years to think a discussion about whether the mid life refresh is better than the original release has just occurred for the first time in Ferrari history. And even more amazing the owners of the refresh think theirs is better. Must show how great it is for this to just happen. What's next - comparing the VS model to the previous?
Has not been an Issue like on lusso. I do have lifter and liberally use it for circumstances like you describe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got delivery for my 812..after it has been ppfed... What an amazing car... So refined... So powerful... Instant response.... JUST AMAZING Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
Congrats and enjoy the 812! A few months ago I received my 812 and was blown away, just like everyone has said. I basically stopped driving the 488 spider and eventually sold it. The power and noise of the 812 is tremendous but I did miss the open top, torquey mid engine v8 Of the 488 as it is to me a different experience. Finally found a replacement last week and now I am back to the duo. I still really do love the 488 and think they complement each other very well...
Totally agree w you... I am really blown away with the 812....amazing.... And I am keeping my 488 which I love driving so much Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
