    ....or are they places run by slick car salesmen who can't be trusted any more than the rest of the pack? I am sure there are many on this board who have bought cars in this manner and would love to hear their thoughts. Buyer's fees seem crazy high but there appear to be some great low mile cars available. Is it really possible to get an amazing deal?

    Getting an amazing deal on any make car at one of the big auctions is unlikely unless you find a car in the early days of the week that somehow everyone else misses. The appeal of the auction format is you get it right away. Not that it doesn't happen, great deals. An fchatter here got the miami Vice TR a year or so ago at Barrett Jackosn (IIRC) for $100k and promptly flipped it to Europe.

    You can't test drive it or inspect it.
    The buyer's premium yields a price on most of them that is way high.
    The only way to do it is know the car's history before it goes to auction.
