This is the upper windshield side of the latch. Got Ron's replacement parts and as soon as I connected them - - bam. Broken pot metal. Ricambi had made new replacements but doesn't have any, and it looks like all the parts sites I can find are out of stock. Anyone know a good source or a breaker I can contact? Thanks!
Are you talking about this part? The part that is pictured three times in the photo below. If yes, they are the next week link in the latch system. I call them the sliders and I also make them. Trust me, once you get the latches sorted, and you learn how to properly latch your roof closed, you will never have a problem again. The roof mechanism is a weak link but the solutions are available. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Actually, if I recall correctly, you all ready have new sliders. Please send a picture of what failed so I can help. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The part number is 61758600 - it's called the striker. Ricambi made them but now they are NLA. Here is the pic from Ricambi. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I made a bunch of those about ten years ago. I’ll check my stash when I get home and if I don’t have any I’ll make some more. I machined them from high strength aluminum and black anodized them. They were super strong. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Looks like Eurospares has them. And at an unbelievable price too. Let me know if they are no available and I will make you some. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Albert, I am making one for you out of high strength stainless. It won’t break! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
AWESOME Ron thanks so much! Confirmed with Eurospares it's only available with the whole latch as well - so this is perfect timing. Maybe one day I can close this top!
Albert Here is a picture your part. Now it’s going to sintering. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I’m only making one right now. Using a new process and proving put the database. If this works out well, I will send the file out for quotes and make more if the cost is reasonable. This is not a simple part to machine. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I’m having it printed using a Markforge RP Machine. Really cool process. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Very strong. Printed in stainless. Check this out: https://markforged.com/materials/metals/ Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
That is some technology, i know they were doing it in plastic but i did not realise it had advanced to metals. I take it the stainless is printed in a liquid or paste form, how does it become a hard stainless.
Yes, it’s amazing what they have been able to do in the RP World. Lots of advancements in my life time. I was employed (prior to being laid off) by Bose Corporation for 34 years. I built the Machining Group, Model Making Group and finally the Rapid Prototyping Group. RP has been the most fun. Bose was one of the first sites on the east coast to purchase an SLA Machine and they remained on the cutting edge till the day I was cast off. I should add that the Markforge process is especially amazing. Here is another picture of the part, post sintering. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app

I’ll be making more as soon as Albert verifies geometry. They will be machined from high strength aluminum and place passivated. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
