I just got an advert sent to me that there is a sorted 348 Challenge car for listed 79K. I am intrigued since its fully titled as a street car. drive to the track, track, drive home. Talking me off the ledge or encourage this thought? 6100 miles, engine out in 2015, brakes water pump and clutch all done. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jason, Nice find! The livery is Miller Motorcars and similar to my 1995 F355 Challenge... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Mine is titled as a street car too though the novelty of driving it to and from the track wore off years ago. I have it trailered to and from events these days. The 348 Challenge would be more friendly on the streets. #97 would make a nice track car. I encourage the thought! Barry
Love it, I've not followed the 348ch, but seems like a decent price. I've idolized the 355ch, and have thus resorted to creating a challenge "tribute" with mine. Did you check out Rob lays (Dr. Earle's) car?
I was hoping for everyone to tell me hell no. So far its all positive. what am i going to do now. i guess i could get serious about it.
Here's an interesting thread if you haven't seen it: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/how-many-348-challenge-cars-were-made.501599/
a 348 Challenge to me is a blue chip investment (that will take a long time to pan out). The first of the Challenge series which is now well established, not to mention the improvements made in 348 Challenge made their way to the F355 if I recall correctly. This is a big piece of contemporary Ferrari history.
i re read the description not one of the 45 "1992 Ferrari 348 Challenge s/n 93016, built new as the 2nd 348 Series Speciale, which were built exclusively for the North American market, and then updated to 348 Challenge specs"
The SS Registry thread has it as Number 2 of 100. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/137351894/ Does the ad have a photo of the SS number plate?
The car has 1996 livery and sponsor decals. I only have race results for all of 1995 and a few for 1996. It raced at Homestead in March 1996 and was driven by Ken Laird (Harrisburg, PA) and supported by Miller Motorcars. See attached file:
