Out of context? The context was your very remark about shopping and the related reaction a much liked find of a charming poster, which got deleted upon "privacy concerns for the person in question” in Soviet stile without my consent. This is the only issue to be explain here.

Wrong thread for strange conspiracy theories. This thread rather needs photographs of 512 S and 512 M.

    Here's 1030 at Mugello 2008.

Looking at the car in the posts #895 and 896 there are some differences. Is it the same car with different hoods or different cars?

Two different 512 S at the Targa-Florio 1970. One was a Training car.

Reading the Christian Huet & Pitero Carrieri book in the Cavalleria Series (where Marcel's picture in post 895 appears on page 45) it states Vaccarella was involved in an accident in 1004 in practice with an Alfa 33/3 and the car was repaired in time for the race...
    What damage was sustained?
Or do both pictures (post 895 & 896) show 1004, with different body parts pre and post accident?

The only other 512 entry for the 1970 Targa Florio was the Filipinetti entered car of Parkes & Muller (1016)

Le Mas du Clos was not a very forgiving track - to some extent that was the "official" reason for its closing down (the French racing federation demanded that all tracks, even those used for track days and not for competition, be homologated, and the Mas du Clos would have needed huge works and money to reach the homologation - one could think not being homologated would not be an issue for a track used only for "private" events, but then the problem comes from the insurances, which would refuse any coverage whatsoever).

Th 1970 Targa Florio took place on Saturday, 9th of May.
The car in question is #1042.
At the same day (May 9, 1970) chassis #1004 was used for tests at the Modena Aerautodromo, 1'235 kms north (770 miles) of Cefalu/Palermo, Sicily (Source: Google Maps).
The 1970 Targa Florio practice car was chassis #1012 but it DNS due to a crash.
    Source: Factory.

Marcel, you might have the date of the Targa Florio incorrect, it is 3rd of May, so theoretically 1004 might have been in Sicily and at the Modena Aerodrome tests on the 9th

    Thank you.
Even if the date of the Targa Florio was incorrect (it came from a factory document which I did not further check) I can tell that chassis 1004 was tested in MONZA from 3 to 8 May 1970. Monza is 1'480 kms (925 miles) away from Palermo. On May 9, 1970, chassis 1004 was tested at the Modena Aerautodromo. And then May 11/12 chassis 1004 was high-speed tested on the Italian Auto Strada Santena-Villanova (near Torino) with long-tail bodywork. See also earlier posts and magazine reports.

Marcel, as 1004 was in Northern Italy from 3 up to 12 May, no way 1004 was participating in the Targa Florio on the 3rd. Case closed!

No, it does not. It was converted by the factory into an "M" in November/December 1970.
Here it is at Mugello on the 23rd October 2005.
1018 lives in Switzerland since 19 October 1991. It came from a Japanese owner.
