It reminds me of my GT4 with the black wrinkle valve covers.
Just found this incredible thread. All so good! I remember a G&H on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, circa 1982. MG Mitten, too. Fantastic car. John.
More progress. Car on the ground on tires yesterday for the first time in 33 years! It kinda tippy-toed around trying to get its feet again. Engine goes in tomorrow hopefully. Mopped the garage floor in preparation. I put BFG T/A radials on it. Not sure if I've mentioned it, but at 68 years old this is probably going to be my last big project. That's what it's always been, a project. Working on it keeps me sane. Image Unavailable, Please Login I have no place for the car long-term. I only have a two-car garage. The tree car (my old 348 that was crushed by the evil eucalyptus tree and subsequently resurrected as a hotrod) and the 358 race car now residing in storage at SR really own the space the gt4 sits in. When done and sorted this car goes on BaT at no reserve. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Put the motor in this weekend, thanks to the good advice from previous fchat posters. It certainly is a tight fit. Placing a piece of plywood over the back glass, strapping only the front head, etc., made it possible to do it by myself, inch by inch. My ceiling has, by 1/2"!, just enough height to get it in. But there it is....you shrug and turn (to the invisible cheering crowd) and say : "It was in there, before..."
Did you have both exhaust manifolds removed? Hard to tell from the pictures. I thought I had read one of them has to be in the car already as it cannot be installed once the engine is in place? The manifold for 1-4 maybe? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I have never lifted the engine nor removed e brake pivot to install the rear header. It slides in from the right corner. Tricky? Absolutely, but it works. /Peter
Now I just gotta figure out why no power to coil in "start" position, but power in "run". Probably switch related?
It was a couple of wires crossed at the switch. One of the few things connected when I bought the car. Dayum.
A few more pics. Almost done, just gotta do a little tuning. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Be careful with those cloth braided hoses I had brand new ones on my car that were only two years old and one just started to fail. I ended up using the gates barricade green stripe hoses because it’s one of the only hoses that will work with the 10% ethanol we have in our gas in California. All my other hoses I got from Dave Helms which are the very best. After this emergency is over if you’re driving up the coast stop by and visit my shrine.
