I actually sold a 2014 458 spider with 14k miles to a ferrari dealer for their stock in July 2019 for £150k so they do sell, I replaced it with a loaded 2015 with 3,600 miles for £173k around the same time
I'll never give up a 458 spider, was my first ferrari, ok so I bought 3 of them and kept 1 but, I learnt my lesson that some stuff should be kept from selling my first rolex I ever bought for myself. I should have kept it just for nostalgia purposes, I always now try to keep anything I think I'll later miss, still miss my first Bentley but, defo not my first Porsche lol
I think there are a few factors affecting the value of the 458's, one being sound. I drove the 458 and 488 back-to-back before I bought my 458 spider. There wasn't enough difference in the cars aesthetically to justify the price jump of the 488 to me. This was nearly two years ago. No doubt that the 488 is faster, but I own a dozen cars. I wasn't looking for the quickest in a straight line, even though I'm a drag racer by heart. My 458 with an IPE exhaust makes sounds that make me laugh and smile every time I drive it at WOT. I LOVE pitching the car into corners, and part of the fun is also the fact that you can flat-foot it more than you can higher HP cars. I had an F12 at the time when I bought my 458, and once I got the 458 I found myself getting in the F12 less and less. Ultimately sold it for a GT2RS. I still find myself getting in the 458 spider more than I do the GT2 RS. Part of that is because the top goes down, but the other is that the car is so well balanced and just sounds incredible. I do keep eyeballing the Pistas, but I could only get rid of the 458 spider if I replaced it with a Pista spider. But, just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should. But, there's another thread for that. The 488 is an incredible car, and if I were buying one today I'd likely buy a 488 because they're a lot more reasonable than they were two years ago. But, since I already have my 458 spider that I love, I'm not willing to get rid of it for a 488 spider. I'll miss the sound way too much, more than the difference in power. The car does everything so well for me that it's likely a keeper for a long time. It's also my mother ship calling me home with black on red. I have a '62 Lincoln Continental convertible in similar colors, which makes for a cool pic. Trevor
My last 458 was red. I’m looking for another, found a ‘14 grigio titans for a great deal. Mint condition, 1 owner. Full PPF. What do people think about GT for the car? I’m not that worried about resale I’ll lose 20k max on the car at the price I’m going to pay.
GT is great for any Ferrari. @humdizzle also shows another dimension that y’all gloss over. Who is selling matters. Why would that well specc’d 458 sit at that price ? Private sales of ten year old cars have a more limited audience. No matter what y’all say, many here finance for whatever reason. Prices and money are linked T dealers and Ferrari dealers have the majority of aspirational buyers which is who many 458 buyers are. I love the 458. It is the first digital Ferrari. My 430 is the last analog one. But it’s a little dated and about to get more dated no matter what the prices are. 488s are cheaper relative to their MSRP for multiple reasons. And the only downward price pressure we are seeing on 458s is in the private sale market. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So we are not at resale parity then ... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2018-ferrari-488-gtb-8/ Personnally I'm waiting for the resale parity between Pista (or F8) and 458
Wow, perfect 458 in my eyes! While I’m not a 458 fanboy, I probably would have bid on it if I had known....
Give it time. We’ll get there. The 355 also took its time, but then took off compared to the 360 Or the 328 compared to the 348. And neither car benefited from this: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/458-slowest-depreciating-car.550027/ No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but I’d say if there’s a car with appreciation potential, it’s the 458. Depends on how long you’re willing to wait. Love a Giallo 488. The blu interior is awful for my taste, but it is what it is: just taste. My guess is that that car found the right buyer, because that’s an usual, personal spec. Not very representative of the market in general imho, as other members pointed out. Kind regards, Nuno.
I think it’s actually GS, but I’m good regardless it’s beautiful. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
