I do not know what Bonini did to it, but the Piper low roof modifications were removed many years before the most recent restoration. I do not know if a complete new body was made.
Autofficina Carlo Bonini in Cadelbosco di Sopra (near Reggio Emilia), Italy, did the engine and mechanicals. Not the body. I took the below photo 27 April 2015. Back in 2002-2004 the body was done by Dino Cognolato's Carrozzeria Nova Rinascente in Vigonza near Padova, Italy. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login

4491 no longer has the extra dial on the far right of the dashboard. Strange there is no fresh air box in this car. 250 GTO 5111 does not seem to have one either? Image Unavailable, Please Login
would be interesting to know if the hole and vent snorkels are made in period by owner's or the factory ?Are there some interior pics of the interior of #4491GT from 1963?
This is strikingly beautiful in green, is it still in this colour today or has it been repainted in the meantime? I think this was a GTO that was almost never shown in public during the last decades.
You take the GTO for granted bc we all know it's the one, the most expensive etc..but when you stop and just look at it, it's achingly beautiful.
AFAIK 4491 is still owned by the same owner who had it restored in 2015, and still in the same green colour. I agree it does look beautiful, as does 3767, the other Piper RHD 250 GTO, in a different shade of green with yellow nose.
4491 Fresh Air Box. Looking at the pictures recently posted, 4491 looks like it may have a narrow, conventional air vent close to the centre of the bottom of the wind screen?
250 GTO 3943GT also has an unusual dash air vent. Picture Copyright Peter Singhof. Image Unavailable, Please Login
3647GT had the 3 snorkels in period, though the top of the dashboard is missing after Surtees' coming together with Jim Clark's Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato at Goodwood, 1962. Image Unavailable, Please Login Now, 3647GT has a grille for when the snorkels are not in use, or perhaps the grille is fixed and an integrated part of the top of the dash? 4491 GT was shown 18 September 1992 during the GTO anniversary in Fiorano. Also at the Ferrari Days in Modena and Imola 15 September 1983. Marcel Massini
Here's couple more pics of 3387 now, with clear view of the early rear spoiler.. I can e-mail a few videos if you'd like, I don't post often enough anymore to remember what the rules are on posting videos They added the vents behind the doors and also put the turn signals back where brake cooling ducts were later added on the front Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can find a picture of 4491 GT at the Ferrari Days Modena 1983 in this book ''Ferrari Days Modena 1983'' di STEFANINI Alessandro (Autore), Editore Niu'Italy and three in this magazine ''Auto Passion '' n° 74 of november 1992 for the GTO anniversary (french magazine )
