Synthetic 10W60 along with the snake oil additive Ferrari recommends.

0 W provides thinner oil for startup and 60 W is too thick for non-racing according to what I have read.
    Others say 20W 50
    Agree on full synthetic though

The manuals and the sticker in the engine bay do indicate Synthetic 10W-60. The service manual says to add 800g of PAO oil. That is what I use.
I'm sure you can run any high-quality oil of reasonable viscosity without issues but why not put the oil in the factory recommends?

    Hi

Ferrari's choice (for normal use) :
Sell Helix Ultra 10W 60 with Tutel FVI Booster Oil

    Like Terry wrote
Instead of Shell there should be no problem with any other full synthetic 10W 60 oil from (not a noname) like
    Mobil
    Valvoline
    Motul
    Castro
    .....

I would not use thinner than 60, because the booster oil is very very very thick and they put it onto the 60 viscosity of the Helix (to get it thicker ???).

My 599 runs with factory spec oil Shell + Booster
My 550 runs with Agip Racing 10W60 which was the factory brand from Ferrari before Shell.
The Ferrari workshop where my Maranello was serviced before I bought her in 2010, used Agip lubricants until they closed the workshop in about 2014 (Retirement of the workshop owner)

So, use a brand 10W60 oil and the booster.

    Daniel
