Its hot for the pacific northwest, around 90. Don't feel like cooking over a hot grill. Thinking getting some sashimi and rolls.
Do I! This one is cribbed from an F-chatter. Chuck roast. Cut into about 1/2 inch cubes. Brown it. Remove meat. Sweat a diced onion. Add meat back. Williams chili seasoning. Tomato paste. Beef stock, red wine, water in whatever combo you think appropriate. Simmer a really, really long time. If you want a bit of heat, I like to add chipotle peppers in adobo. Variations on the above. Replace chuck roast with either smoked brisket or smoked chuck roast. T Btw, Williams has no salt, so you can dial that in to suit your taste.
Jealous! Gust front from a thunderstorm just dropped our temp by 10 degrees to 92 F! Fingers crossed we get rain. Think it'll be leftovers tonight...T
Well, hell must have frozen over (despite the record heat out west). I believe I am now officially the last person in the USA to eat their inaugural meal at Olive Garden. I've been craving "red sauce Italian" for a while, and the Greater Yellowstone area seems to be void of Italian immigrants (or at least those that want to cook or open a restaurant). So...the *only* choice to satisfy my craving was Olive Garden here in Idaho Falls. I had the rigatoni with "meat sauce" (that "B" word is too furrin' for folks to understand I guess). Was as expected. Not bad, not great. The salad was actually good. The infamous bread sticks that I've heard so much about were forgettable (as in I wish I could forget I ate one). Great, now I'm the last man standing when it comes to OG?!? Actually, I don't know if I've ever eaten there. If I did, I blocked it out! T
In central Washington State, the place I go is a small town. Not many restaurants there besides chains. Choice between Olive Garden, Applebee's and Red Robin. I'm usually with my dad and he likes the soup and salad at Olive Garden.
Caprese salad with Organic heirloom tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella from Italy, organic purple opal basil, organic EVOO, organic balsamic from Italy. yum.
I'm craving Chinese. But the best for Americanized Chinese is closed Monday. Could go for Italian, but the only authentic restaurant I know of. Well its too much of a drive. The Italian places in my town make Olive Garden authentic! Said it before, but for some reason all the Greek restaurants here also serve "Italian". All though their version of lasagna is comfort food too me if from this place: https://www.alfapizza.net/ !
Doing cold fried chicken and corn on the cobb. Discovered yesterday, Dairy Queen has a flavor I want to try. Its a UK candy, made and sold in Canada too. Called Smarties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smarties going to try one tonight.
Here we go, time to crank up the Smarties vs M&M's controversy! When I visited South Africa many eons ago, got into a little tiff with the Euros I met there about the relative merits of Smarties vs M&Ms!
