888’s race used a cab Porsche which would make a difference. Then tyres etc. - were they the same? But mostly, these three cars are all close enough that driver and run differences will change the result one way or the other.

All the cars are violently fast. A few tenths of a second in the quarter mile makes no difference to how fast it would feel on the street.

theyre a British car channel. If anything they’d pull for the Mclaren to win. The Mclaren has trouble putting down the power without heat in the tires. They don’t heat up the tires well and there are extended periods of time as they’re making these videos where the cars are just sitting there. I’m surprised the Mclaren doesn’t spin worse off the line.

I was so skeptical about it... Will have to review it again.

Or have somebody without bias and some credibility to repeat it

I don’t race cars. But isn’t the F8 a road car? And if you wanted to race, wouldn’t you get the racing version? Honest question here.

  10. What's the "racing" version of the F8?

    Honest question here.

  12. The Pista isn't really a "racing" car, right?

It's a track oriented version of the 488 (not F8, but why quibble).

The only real race cars that Ferrari sells would be something like the 458 Challenge, which is a track-only race car.

Is there such a unicorn for the F8?

Maybe it'll go on sale right after the F8 VS?

No F8-VS and current challenge car is 488 Challenge GTE, homologated through 2021

and neither Ferrari nor McLaren optimize their cars for quarter mile drag races, it would destroy their fuel economy (i.e. having high final drive ratios in the differential)

Reaction times don't matter when they produce the slips. The measurement starts when each cars begins to roll and it measures elapsed time and speed. The F8 is mighty, on a par with the 720. Sickness inducing cars, both of them!!!

There is no racing version of the F8.

Last racing version is 488 Challenge.

I disagree. Why the christmas tree? Then why race side by side. Also The guy who jumps the light creates the dirty air for the other slower reacting fellow, slowing him down a bit.

The timing slip is based on the time one produces when leaving the line and cuts the starting timing beam and at the end the 1/4 mile beam. You can leave 10 minutes later. The system will still measure your elapsed time (they also have reaction times, but this is not of our concern).

Trap speed and 60-120 is really what matters as far as comparing acceleration between cars of this level. Obviously there’s so much more to the ownership experience than that but based off the 60-120 times and 1/4 trap speeds I’ve seen the 720S is still the fastest non-hypercar.

    I missed the sarcasm apparently.

Carry on making silly comparisons about which road car is a better race car. I wonder which one would win a tractor pull.

    Yeah, that’s sarcasm.

The 765LT has a 15% shorter final drive than the 720S. It’s been said that the shifts happen hard and fast and is one of the most transformative changes over the base 720. Should be a beast in the quarter mile.

Wonder how they dealt with the fuel economy issue?

I’m new to Ferrari, how many years will the F8 be made? We are still on the waitlist list to be granted one of the dealer allocations.
