You sure seem to have a lot of time are you retired?
Well good news! I was able to restore my radiator blind. Not that it took 2 years since the original post. Other projects took priority. Since I had no car waiting for it, it just sat. No big restoration secret, I was lucky. The roller was frozen solid as shown in the before picture below. Drilled small holes in each end and filled it with penetrate and let it sit a couple of weeks. That did the trick. Got new vinyl as close to original as I could find. Repaint and reassemble. Works like a charm. Final product shown below. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thia is correct the blind is spring loaded. You turn rotate the wheel to wind the cable in and raise the blind. The blind wheel has a ratchet controlled by the little vinyl covered lever. Pulling on the lever releases the ratchet and lowers the blind. Brian Brown Patrick Ottis Co.
A more sophisticated blind can be found on Ferrari's from 1955-1958 a very nice louvre system made by F.I.M Used on 250GT Europa,Boano;Ellena, early TDF etc little bit dusty after all those years. see pics below Cornelis Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi All, I am looking for the control knob for the radiator blind of the 250 Gte. Please let me know what you have and might part with. Thanks Christopher Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a control knob off of a 250GT. It's at my Montana home. I will see if I have a picture of it. PM me what you would offer for it.
on my 250 GT/E the knob/handle has been not vertical mounted, it was horizontal also I wonder about the dashboard in the photo? looks not like 250 GT/E
Yes, right. But control mechanism is the same all over 250 models and I think also 330 as far as I know. Thanks Christopher
Here some Gte photos with the control. I have also seen some vertically mounted... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the vertical installations, it makes better sense for the trip lever to be pointing downward. john
