After nearly two years of a mixture pain and waiting, she is done. Complete body, chassis, mechanical and interior restoration, and put back to 100% [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]exactly the same as when she came out of Maranello early 1980. This car drives so well it’s not true. I now have two dry sump 308’s. this red one and the azzuro Metallico one. Never thought that would happen, but enjoyed the first one so much I thought I’d do it again. Not quite sure what to do with them now!

Well done. In 1980 our neighbor had that same spec and I vividly remember hearing it crank up and running out the door to watch it drive off. Every so often he would stop and yell out asking if I wanted to ride along. The Ferrari fever was born. Your example is most likely better than new as you more than most likely cared much more as each part was placed together, probably counting each revolution of every screw and bolt. Wish I was there to help.

Yep you are right there, they were certainly thrown together back in the late 70’s early 80’s and a lot of care was taken with this.. things like re plating of the main fasteners, nuts and bolts rather than replacing them, for the original look. Someone had changed the factory spec red carpet to black, so I sourced a very well patterned red carpet and had it matched up perfectly as I found a piece of the original red behind the glove box. Very satisfying process. if painful at times!

It is interesting to see that the ride height of your "euro" car is about the same as a "US" car. There are sometimes suggestions that they are different.

Is that right, didn’t know that. This car is on new springs / dampers, plus had little fuel or spare tyre etc on board in the pics, all that may have made it higher than usual once the new springs have bedded in some?

Absolutely stunning car. I just took delivery this week of an 83 GTS euro spec myself. It’s a solid B but plan to do what you did here...thanks for the inspiration. And on a side note, I pulled up to a gate and yanked on the parking brake only to have the car roll backwards on me! I was thinking what the hell!? Good to know this is common. My clock works though...heard that is an exception! Enjoy both of them is great health!!

Fantastic! I do hope its not going to be stashed away in a garage somewhere. Everyone should see what these cars were like when new in period - yours in definitely better of course but there are too many that are not perfect (mine for instance!)
Labour of love so big congrats
